“We wish to become the most motorcycle-friendly pass road in the Alps!” With these words, Dr. Christian Heu, sole director of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road PLC, started in the spring of 2003 an ambitious and previously unequalled project. The aim is to offer motorcycle visitors more service, comfort, safety and thus a more intensive experience on the 48km panorama road leading over 2,500 metres through the Hohe Tauern National Park.
Due to the magnificent response from the motorcyclists questioned on the route – in 2003 a new record attendance was achieved with over 76,000 motorcycles and scooters – the Grossglockner High Alpine Road PLC decided to continue the successful project in 2004 and to extend it to the Gerlos Alpine Road and the Nockalm Road; both roads are also under its direction.
We need people like that here! "more service, comfort, safety...." almost makes me want to go to Europe.... Almost!
Cheers
Pete
