Kawasaki wins Daytona 200

Post by Stretchy »

Attack Kawasaki finished 1-2 at Daytona, Aussie Ben Attard was 2nd.

Seems like the new ZX6R is the bike to have, after winning in the supersport race at Daytona and winning supersport at PI.

In the Superbike race Akira Yanagawa finished 4th showing he still has what it takes.

Man I wish Fox Sports would give us coverage.. It is so god damn frustrating..

It wasn't till Jan 07 that they gave some World Super Stock race coverage... And out of the 3 races I watch.. Kawasaki on the podium every race (3rd from memory).

It was an incredible weekend of racing here at Daytona. Kawasaki basically kicked some major butt here. Some crazy crashes in Superbike....Mladin, Roger Hayden, Hacking, Yates. Most were self induced.
But to see the Hondas all have "mechanical" troubles in the 200 was pretty crazy. Also interesting to see Pirelli take all three podiums. Good run for Aussie Ben Attard. Tommy Hayden's former crew chief is his new crew chief and it seems to be working in his favor.
Kawasaki has put together an pretty funny TV ad campaign here using Roger Hayden and Ricky Gadsen who is a drag racer. Here's the link.

Hahahaha, hilarious! Certainly better than the non-existant ads we have here.

Why have I got the feeling Stace would want Gadson's "new" leathers

I was particularly happy to see Kawasaki do so well because, as of January, my daughter is working for Kawasaki racing PR. She just finished her university classes in December. She was wide open at Daytona and didn't even have time to have a meal with us.

The roadrace and supercross teams now have Monster energy drink as a major sponsor which must have given them more $ to play with. I can't remember seeing many energy drinks other than Red Bull over there. We have dozens and they are just printing money because there's so much profit in them. Even Red Bull doesn't have much visibility there with racing.

Too bad about Kawasaki riders Hayden and Hacking both crashing out of the superbike race. It was a crashfest, even Mladin tucked the front end and went down. It was his birthday too!

Hey Steph!

She was wide open? hmm I'm not to sure what that means... But I'm not thinking good things... lol

Glad to her she's finished her degree, she obviously did well. That's a few less trips OS for you :)

Hey. Mind out of gutter  Wide open as in throttle.

I think that should mean more trips OS now that we only have one at uni. The way Jamie's going, I should be booking a flight to Oz now for mid August!

Someone just sent me a photo of me with Chris (Jamie's technician when he was at Kawasaki) after the Supercross.
