stickers

Post by Yankee »

nother question: I want to personalize my bike a bit, and i don't really "luv" the exsisting stickers/decals on the bike. (boring, dime-a-dozen weird wedge things)
so anyway, what do ppl think about just taking them off? i think i'd like the look of solid red and black bike, but then would ppl think i wrecked it and therefore couldn't afford the stickers!? or should i not care what ppl think, but then it comes to re-sale as well! DOH!
what are your thoughts on this matter?

Champ I for one would leave them on, first thing if you sold it or traded it they will think it has been for a slide or two. Then the price you wanted will go out the door.

I agree with Mica, try to keep it stock in appareance as much as possible because people will probably smell a rat even though you had the pest man in 2 days ago. I think it looks fine as it is anyway.

Exactly what i think about bikes without decals.

I always think the person has stacked it and didnt want to spend the money on the decals.

damn, i was hoping to get some encouraging words, but i guess facts are facts... if i saw a future bike i wanted to buy and it didn't have stickers, i'd be quite skeptical! but i hate "looking" like everyone else... you know? oh well, they'd be a bitch to take off anyway, did it to my old cbr (eucalyptus oil and blowdryer.... burning hands that smelled of lovely trees!)

You'd probably get ghost decals anyway, because your paint job will have faded and under the stickers will be stock saturation. The decals will be there but they won't be!

Mate, there are a million ways to make your bike look different to someone elses.

I think the easiest way is to get your rims painted. I have a blue ZX6, the same as Dans. But, my wheels are black. In my opinion, looks a million times better.

If you don't like that idea, what about:
a) a tinted screen
b) modified indicators
c) aftermarket exhaust
d) undertail
e) rear cowl
f) rim stickers
g) aftermarket pegs and/or bar ends

Just gotta use your imagination.

Or, have a look through Demon Tweeks motorcycle catalogue to get some ideas.

Kylie is right, if you remove the decals chances youll still be able to see where they were. Bolt on mods are great but also kinda boring and uncreative, if you can think of a great custom paintscheme run with it but try and follow factory styling ideas.

good points there guys/gals....
was thinking of doing the paint on the rim thing, but i'd leave a strip of red around the rim (like the "rim stickers"... or maybe i'd leave the "spokes" red...... i can always repaint them black as well eh?
you can always add but not take away, oh that's in cooking?!
yeah, bolt ons are cool, but EVERYONE does that too..... hence my funny little LED indicators i made myself
i don't know, maybe i'll just buy a bennelli, then i'll be different!
