30 years and 100 000 km's

Post by huntersdad »

My old 'Z' six fiddy has reached a big milestone.
This month it turned 30 and went past the 99 999 kilometre mark.
Just had to pull over yesterday afternoon and take a piccy with my phone.

Now the clock is reset to zero. It's an odd feeling seeing those numbers erased.

I wish I could claim those kilometre's as my own, but I can't. I've only done the last few thousand.
I'm still very proud of the old beast! Who knows how many owners it's had, how many tyres it's been through, or how many oil changes?
It's a scary thought!

These things must be bloody bulletproof I tell ya!

Yep, bulletproof is a great description.

Before anyone gets too excited about doing the same number of k's in a couple of years on their latest crotch-rocket, consider this.........

its probably the second, or third, maybe even the fourth time its gone around the clock......these bikes can do these miles *no* worries....

My old Z1000 has clocked almost 1/2 million k's since 1980, I knocked up well over 100,000 of them myself inside the first 3 years of ownership, the second owner commuted regularly for almost 9 years at 15-20k per year (only transport), and since I got it back in 1994, I have averaged 10-15k each year up to 2005, when it was retired from active duty, now days its only used 3 months over summer as a 'fun' bike..... :P

The 650 was a fantastic little bike, and its heritage was still evident in the Zephyr 750 of the early 90's......

Where's that Historic section ?????
