F#*ked over again....

Post by Draven »

Well where do i start... I rang the rta today to find out exact dates of my licence suspension and find out what i have to do when its up to get my licence back...

When i finally got through after being on hold for 30min, the lady tells me that my licence is actually suspended by the courts yet, i was like wtf , but it is suspended cause i havent payed my fines, the reason i havent payed them is that my plan was to do the 2 months HD then when i go back to work pay them off while i ride out my suspension...

Evan thought i got letters from the rta and the courts saying my licence was suspened cause of my offence etc it really wasnt

But it gets better  The lady then tells me that they are waiting for paper work from the courts from my last court hearing to let them know that my 2 years of no licence has started, which means instead of having about 16 months to go im going to have another 2 years slapped onto it as they DONT backdate it...

So all in all all for the past 8 months or so ive been catching the bus, walking and getting my mates to run me around when i could of really been driving myself... :x :x

Ahh, Bureaucracy at work...money is probably at a premium, but maybe you need to get some advice on this and see if something can't be done...

thats exactly what I had to do when my licence was suspended 'At The Discretion Of The Court'........

Greg - most jurisdictions start the licence loss period from when the fines are paid, not when you are charged or appear in court. If you haven't paid them off yet, I would be looking into the *exact* wording of the letters you have received from the Courts already, and if there is anything that remotely resembles the commencement date of a period of licence suspension, go and talk to Legal Aid for some advice.

If the Court suspension allowed you a period of time to pay the *traffic* fine off, thats good. You can plead a case for the licence suspension period to cease when you expect it to (ie 2 years after being charged). If you were also fined by the Court, then they may have allowed time to pay off this fine as well. (This is generally the case with most Court-ordered fines and costs for traffic offences.)

Good luck mate.

Yeah me too Hoffy, Been thinking a lot lately about your terrible situation. It's even starting to effect me now. As A matter of fact Greg, I am going to go out in Sympathy with you and not ride my bike all weekend as a show of solidarity to you my bikeless/licenceless brother! I suggest everyone does the same, that way we can all feel your pain.

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
