Why is it so????
Prob. a stupid Question but....
Whilst in out of gear on centre stand warming the old beastie up, the back wheel was trying to spin albeit just about an inch or 2 each throttle twist.
Can ye of greater knowledge care to explain this to me...
Cheers
Oh and nearly got my knee down on a straight road before it was that windy....LOL

re: Why is it so????
Mine does that all the time - spins a bit faster than you describe sometimes actually.
Even though you're out of gear the engine spinning still creates friction through the oil in the gear box causing the back wheel to spin a bit.
That's all (I believe)

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.

re: Why is it so????
Its called vibration that's makin it happen. You'll notice it'll spin faster if the choke is on....

Re: re: Why is it so????
I have to partially agree with Kaz and mostly with TY, it's the viscosity of the oil dragging the clutch plates around AND it will do it faster when your choke is on.Mizz ZZR wrote:Its called vibration that's makin it happen. You'll notice it'll spin faster if the choke is on....
It's mainly to do with both the oil being a bit thicker when it's cold AND the faster idle (when the choke is on).
Phew, out of breath now

*** Does this make more sense Brett?

re: Why is it so????
Brett
just in jest mate
so
no centre stand?... your bikes were deprived, just about everything these days has 'em, serious!
the wheel spin from tape....?
mate, its the oil in the clutch/gearbox moving the innards
which moves the output shaft and so the chain moves etc etc
the oil is 'sticky' enough for that to happen (and partly the reason
for our 1st gear clunk...remember that post?)
Ratmick was right when he spoke about the viscosity of the oil causing this to happen
and its not vibration, afaik
and for Kaz, it happens more with the choke, coz the engine is going faster
so the input chain to the clutch is going faster, so the rear wheel goes faster
and
48?
two before fifty...?? spelt -
forty eight...mate
and I know
coz i am two ...
two before 50 that is !!
cheers

re: Why is it so????
Ok seriously ........ nah i cant do it sorry.
Focus ........ hmmmmmmm .
Ok. Ian mate, less bikes have centrestands now then ever imo, if it says sport it dont have a centrestand anymore, which reminds me do the z750 n z1000 have em ?. I know all tourers do as in the Mighty ZZR range.
As for the rear wheel turning i thought the Oil Viscocosisoty drag thing was correct so its not vibration although vibration may play a part its not the cause, correct ?.
Lastly i can spell Forty Eight but that was not the question, as i wanted the past tense as in; four is too Forth, fourteen is too fourteenth. Do that too 48 n youve got the answer n no using numbers you crafty old force wielding Ninja Smoking Beemer Mechanicing Mexi can Pie Eating PC Puncher you.
Cheers Brett

Re: re: Why is it so????
I don't think the current Z Bikes have them, or if they do they're bloody well hidden.Pontikat wrote:Ok. My current Desktop piccie on my PC is a Green US Z1000, no centre stand, and the AMCN Desktop wallpaper pics of the Z750 don't show one either. I know they get in the way of good cornering angles, but they are really handy.
