Post by robracer »

today there were two on blue R1's looking more like they should be at the beach than on bikes.... gets up my goat but at the end of the day they could possibly learn the hard way :?

what do you mean by a squid - an L plater? Or someone not in leathers?

I have seen a heap of people in jeans, tshirts and runners lately.

Someone riding around without any leathers, ie generally in shorts and a t-shirt or as I seen this afternoon a guy riding in just a pair of shorts and thongs.

Everyday i see a "squid" or 2.. They haven't been down yet.. When they do, you dont see them again, cause there is nothing left.
Goin to work the other day, its raining. This guy on a CBR 1000 has dryriders on top & pants, with no shows at all.....WTF

Seen plenty of Squids lately - probably more than those in leathers. Many 1/2 squids seem to think the jacket is vital but that their legs will be inpervious to harm - Wrong. I've hurt legs more than anything else falling off bikes.

Was 35 deg in Melb yesterday, I rode 50k to work in full leathers. I then rode 45k almost home and dropped the bike at Alex's work, picked up the car and the kids. Then took the car back and rode the bike home. At all times on the bike I full leathers; sure I was sweaty, but that's a fair price to pay.

I've been known to squid it a little - taking the postie down the street I'll often be in helmet, shirt, jeans and sneakers. I just take more care and stay that little bit further from cars.
I've been in accidents (duh!) but I'm still willing to accept that little bit of risk in not putting on all the gear.
No way I'd do an OPH run or something without the full gear though.
