question for ER-6F/6N and cbr600r/rr riders

The tables have turned and I may be getting my new bike after all.

The question i have for the above models is:

How many km's do you get on a tank of fuel?

I am referring to the bike not flogged to death just causal riding.

As gpx250 riders will know you get a heck of a lot of k's on a litre of petrol. What higher CC riders get on a tank.

My style of riding is to get out for touring with mates, local rides around town are starting to be really boooooooooooring. So I want sumfin that gives outstanding fuel economy not a guzzler like a hardley Ablesome.

Ok then that rules out a 12 !

Id go the ER6F, very tidy bike, easier to ride that cbr600 and heaps easier on the wallet in fuel and especially maintenance (tyres service etc), plus its a bit different. Should have some good power for you to play with too.

On my 650 trailie I used to get almost 500k's from 23 litres. ER6 Id imagine would be similar but obviously would have a smaller tank.

I would suspect that you get better milage out of an ER6F than a CBR600RR.... But I dont have any facts to back that up...

The CBR600RR should be fairly similar to my zx6r.

These are both claimed estimates, but not proven... On the rare occasion that I set a trip counter for my petrol I usually hit reserve from full around the 250 mark.... (my wife's GSXR600 is about the same)

ZX6R = 17 litre tank about 250km (+3x18km for the 3litre reserve would bring it up would bring it up to about 305)
ER6F = 15.5 Litre Tank (340km per tank is claimed by some, this is from full to dry)

My 7R gets about 215km to a tank, even less if Im being a total dick(most of the time) Sprtsbikes are thirsty buggars goes with the territory.

I have a '99 CBR600F, not the sporty RR newfangled thingy, although it still goes hard enough when asked.

I commute to work daily, 50k each way. 18L tank, hits reserve with 3L left, full to reserve is usually about 300k. This is fairly boring freeway riding, with a 10 min city stint at one end. I don't hammer off the lights, and generally cruise on the freeway at 110km/h.

wow i actually thought the er6f would have given more k's per litre?

wow and on the gpx i get close to 450k's on a full tank - obviously from the smaller displacement.

decisions decisions............i hate to think what a harley gets with a 18litre tank...?

thats the cruncher decider.....i really like the economy of the 250 but want the new updated looks and increased power of a er6f.

I got that info from a website....... Dont know how accurate it is.... I would have thought it would be more too........

claims more than 25km per litre (yes... I read dutch)

Which means that at 15.5litres per tank, you should be looking at roughly... 390km per tank...

Most of 'em are pretty economical, actually. From the factory, that is. Understressed lump + single carb/throttle body.

Can't help you with fuel figures for the two bikes you asked about, however for comparison purposes my ZZR600 usually gets 220-250km to reserve, 18L tank, 4.5L(?) reserve. Best ever was 340km

to reserve, poking along in top behind a newbie. Worst was 180km - can't remember what I was doing, but it must have been bad!

The ZX9R, on the other hand ...

Hey Rocco.
My ER6F is a great bike to ride. I loved it from the second I rode it.
The tank holds 15.5ltrs. My low fuel warning light came on at 245kms last weekend and at this point there is still 3.5ltrs left in the tank. I would say I would get about 310kms out of a tank, this is a little bit of commuting but mainly weekend rides with friends. Aint she pretty?:)

450km from a tank on a GPX? Do you weigh 30kgs or something?

dont forget while the ER may get more km per Litre, its a totally diferent bike to compare to a Cbr600RR

the ER is more comfortable for touring (id assume- i havent ridden one)

The CBR will have more power, like the zx6r....

Id seriously look at the earlier zx6r (pre barra 03) cos they are awesome for comuting, comfy for a long distance, and i use to get abt 250km out of 15L or so before filling up...

My G/f's 600rr gets at least 220-230 before she'd start seriously looking for fuel I'd guess, my 749 gets about 210 so she always tops up when I do to save stopping twice so I'm guessing what she'd get based on how her guage looks
