bloody blind car drivers!

Post by ttc »

At work today, guy from workshop comes in to tell me my bike's been knocked over.. yeah funny i said..

his look said otherwise, I went out and some bloody blind ass car driver knocked my baby over, it's picked up and they're looking at the damage. The guy was there, so we got his details.

tank dented
bars/bar ends
front bracket
mirror
indicator
radiator cover
broke clutch lever
footpeg
exhausts
bellypan
crash knob took most of it

and he isn't insured

So for the weekend I have an 06 zx6 to play with... I had forgotten how uncomfortable a sports bike is!

he knows he has to pay for it

I hope he earns good money, it's a new bike, i want everything damaged replaced to make it back to the condition it was in this morning before i went to work.

In a way I feel sorry for him, the flashest bike there and he had to knock it over, stupid thing is it was parked outside the shed we used to put them into before the car yard owner decided we weren't allowed.

Dont think you could be at fault for that one....might be easier just to hand it over to the insurance.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

I've heard good things about suncorp re not at fault accidents, so I'm not too worried especially as we have all of the guys details. He actually said that he wished he hadn't done that, my boss said that the girl in accessories is going to wish he hadn't either.

I'm just spewing because I take such good care of my bike and now this has happened, it wasn't in the way, he obviously just didn't look.

There are 18 things damaged on the bike, and since it's so new I really want things to be replaced, not repaired, but I'm not sure how Suncorp are in this situation, anyone had experience with this?? The dent in the tank isn't huge, but I don't want one thats been repaired and painted, as to me the bike won't be as good as it was before.

When you just look at it, the damage isn't that noticable, apart from the tank and fairing bracket it's just scratches..

But I rode the zx6 last night, gosh it felt weird, the boss offered me the zx10, i said no because I hadn't ridden a sports bike for so long :) But I think I'll put my hand up for it if i get another chance :D

I am with Suncorp Tanya.
It has to go back to "as new" condition under 12 months old and my experience with Suncorp has been excellent.
Just out of interest I am with Swann too and they were really good as well even though the 12 was over 12 months old, but took it back to market value. Which was good for a 12 anway 8)

Short answer - you will get a new tank even if the dent is tiny.
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD
