eliminator 250

hi guys/ gals
im in the market for a second bike to ride to work on and not worry about km's
im lookin at a 93-96 eliminator 250 or similar or and early model gpx
has any 1 here own 1 of these, know what they like and worth the effort...
im llookin at spending up to about 3k

forget the eliminator, get a gpx or zzr, well within your price range if you dont care about some scratches.

was initially thinking them but wasnt to sure on how reliable they would be and stumbled upon the eliminator and thought i would ask the Q...
any idea how reliable the earlier bike would be as i would be using it as transport for work

There is a cheap ZZR 250 in the Bike Sales section.

Been a couple of Eliminators on Ebay in SE Qld in the last couple of weeks. Might still be on there.

zzr and the gpx are the same paralelle twin engine with some changes for the gpx.

If anything the ZZR would be more reliable as it's a tourer (and not spec'd for a bit more power?)

ZZR should get about 300 km to a tank.

Just check the usuals, like head, etc, and make sure you test ride it to see if it stalls etc.

EL250 = early model eliminator with the parallel twin engine of the gpx/zzr, from about 1991-99.
eliminator250 (250v) with a new v twin engine (2000+)

early one revs higher and screams a bit due to the parallel twin, the latter ones are ok around town and rev a bit lower, heard they are a bit gutless in comparison, but it IS a 250 cruiser were talkin about here, it's not exactly the fastest kid on the block.

speed/ power isnt an issue as i do have a 6r as a toy i only need to do 110km/h as i travel about 25km on a freeway morning and nite.

what are the gpx/z like for leg room... b4 the 6r i had a 82 2r and found leg room to be an issue which was part of the reason to upgrade initially

I love my GPX250, leg room depends on your height I guess. I am short @ 5'1" and this was perfect for me. I got just over 300km per tank.

I'm slightly taller than Lanie @ 6' 1" and I don't find legroom to be a problem.

personally i would forget about the EL they are hard to find and hard to sell and harder to find any parts for and a little fuel tank which you will be needing to fill every couple of days

stick to your GPX or ZZR

plenty of them around to pick from, easy to sell again later

huge tank and great on fuel 400k + when riding easy

im about 6 foot but about 110kg
i found the 2r a good bike to learn on but i was at the limit of flexability in the knees

el250 with renthal bars (not the stock mini ape's) = sit up and beg & f*in comfortable!
