Post by WRT_GPX »

so i went out to check out the bike and change the oil. upon removing the oil drain bolt i saw that it was collecting aluminium... but coming out smoothly... putting it back in, it went in smoothly but never tightened properly... so im mighty pissed

so i need either a new oil pan, which looking at hte specs on the ninja 250 is the WHOLE bottom segment of the engine under the crankshaft O.o....

or i can get it drilled and tapped... gah... if anyones got an old ninja or parts i really need your help :(... 1st mode of transport so im a little annoyed

saw the Q8 oils while i was there, decent prices actually
55 bucks for 4 litres of synthetic, 44 for mineral, and 10 bucks for a chain adjustment cause i couldnt be bothered XD

hmm... yeah and i just found out the bike really hates 20W50... clutch is fine, engine seems fine, but it just lacks the regular *somewhat* level of power, just doesnt wanna rev up easy, ill probably switch back to 10W50 and then no more changing of oil types >.<

you need to change to 10W/40

the higher number is the Hot value the higher the number the thicker the oil is , need to go for a bit thinner

also check that you dont overfill the motor or can lose some power that way also

what about 10w50 over the 20w50? because theres not THAT much thats leaking, although its fairly noisey and clunky.

The high number is the Cold rating, and the low number is the Hot rating... As oil gets thinner as it gets hotter.

ah, so its the 20, not the 50 thats changing how its feeling, so going back to a 10/50 or 40 should fixxer up.
