The "legal" placement is on the left hand side and towards the front, very few motorcyclists actually have this done, even fewer been pulled up for having it in the "legally wrong" position.
You could always put it where Neka sticks his

So under the Number plate on the Left side Colette its where I have it an where its legal /ugly I know but not worth getting pulled over for
ive heard that in nsw it is law to have it attached to the numberplate.
ugly and gheyyyy, but yeah. i guess it also encourages you to stick a couple of washers on and and spin it around over your numberplate. so the plod cant read it.
mines in a tube thing mounted where most bikes sports bikes pillion pegs mount from... sorry havent got a photo yet.

AFAIK, there are conflicting laws in NSW.
Apparently the back of the rego label says it has to be near the rego plate.
OTOH, the ADR say it must be on the left-hand side.
But that's only what I've heard - check it out for yourselves!
I'm going to look into it some time soon (since I want to move mine), but if I find there are two rules, I'm going to go with the one that looks better and argue the fine if it gets to that point.
Mine is currently attached to the side of the rego plate and looks crap.

I've got one of the tube things mounted behind my plate at the bottom so you pretty well can't see it. If I ever get pulled over for it I'll argue the toss. In the past I've had them hidden behind plastics, under seats etc and never had a problem.
What shits me is that it is a total non arguement. By the time the cop has got out of his car he's already checked your rego anyway. Really these days rego labels are totally useless.
