. I mean 840 units that is a joke considering the costs involved, and not even a hairdrier.
and to think factory v8 optioned with decent power (for it's time) model some dick thought this would actualy sellholden supplied 840 HJ's to mazda so they could "rotor" them up??

There used to be a Mazda Factory and Ford Factory right next to each other in NZ.... (In thames I believe) It could have all been done inside the country without any import/export thingos..Neka79 wrote:its in NZ...but..im perplexed...

why would u do that?? how weird is it.....
Please also remember that some Holdens came out with Nissan engines.... So its not as if it has never been heard of...
In fact, even Ford's relationship with Mazda re-occured later, remember the ford laser hatchback and the mazda 323 hatchback were identical, again a ford body with a mazda engine (although the ford had an identical engine rebadged as ford). And in fact, that relationship still lasts today... http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/Artic ... leID=11081

ok mate....econovan/E2000 mazda van...same thing....
toyota lexcen/commodore
holden appollo/toyota camry
badge engineering has been goin on for sum time, and yup, the VL commodore used a nissan rb30?? block while the V6 was in development... they used a holden head tho, and thats why they had so many problems i believe...
my point is..a rotary isnt as very torquey motor (i believe??) ...so why put it in such a big heavy car?? they work a treat in rx's and stuff...ohh dato 1200 utes go well with a 13b/12a in em too!!

The 13B has a lot more torque than the 12A, 13B were in the very heavy RX4's, you would still have to rev the snot out of it to make it go.Neka79 wrote:Stereo wrote:There used to be a Mazda Factory and Ford Factory right next to each other in NZ.... thats what i thought...but im no rotor expert....... but being a high revving 2 stroke type motor..i thought as much..BladeBoy wrote:The 13B has a lot more torque than the 12A, 13B were in the very heavy RX4's, you would still have to rev the snot out of it to make it go.Neka79 wrote:Stereo wrote: There used to be a Mazda Factory and Ford Factory right next to each other in NZ.... the reason y they used the rotary motor was holden at the time were have emmission problem with stricter regulations of the time where as the rotary motor was alot cleaner at the time
they are torque motor just higher in the rev range where a v8 may make max torque at say 2000rpm a rotary would be at 4-4500 rpmNeka79 wrote:The 13B has a lot more torque than the 12A, 13B were in the very heavy RX4's, you would still have to rev the snot out of it to make it go.
but on the other hand a v8 is at the end of it legs at 5500-6000 where as the rotary is good for 8000 in std trim
dont mean this to be a dig mate im just very fond of rotaries and like to shed light on the little known motors

hence why i said "im no rotor expert"..cos i kno not much abt em at all, and hence why i asked the question..so no dig was taken..i dont think...rotaboy wrote:Neka79 wrote:its in NZ...but..im perplexed...

the emissions one is a interesting point.... but no matter how much u rotor fans talk em up, i cant see a rotor being as reliable, torquey or usefull in a 1600kg car...in a 1000kg car sure..but...i dunno...

no the 20b went in some bigger sport luxury mazdas, under that other mazda name they failed with... cant remember it...
but i must say im FUCKING CONFUSED at 3am looking at a rotary holden... insane... slow and insane with that weight.
i can just see it now, some blundering heavy holden screaming while going 40

The 20b was used in the Mazda Cosmo wich was the 929 in piston format ia Ausralia. I think it also came in a twin turbo version. Also no mention of the butt ugly RX5 the original 121 5 foot long bonnet two of the heaviest doors you could imagine and equiped with a 13B. Sales were not that great due to the looks and performance.20b went in some bigger sport luxury mazdas, under that other mazda name they failed with... cant remember it...
