Cam Pitting ZZR1200

Post by Neilp »

Just got the news today that my inlet camshaft has the dreaded pitting syndrome, that has been diagnosed on a number of ZZR1200 's,
Kawasaki Australia is coming to the party with 2 new camshafts and will pay for these to be heat treated (surface hardened) & cam followers gaskets etc etc.
All I will have to pay for is oil and coolant. Although I am pleased Kawasaki is coming to the party, I would rather they had fixed the problem from the outset. They have known about this problem since 2002.

Yep mine went too- during warranty period and the fuckers charged me $80 for oil, filter and coolant (way too much as well as shouldn't have to pay for WARRANTY work) as well as doing a SLOPPY job. Low on coolant, missing cable ties, cables routed the wrong way. Got done over a year ago and have been so pissed since that I have only done 3000km on it in a year and haven't been game to pull fuel tank off to see what other butchery they may have done. :x
2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R :) Yeah I like Kawasakis.
