The joys of working shiftwork.
The joys of working shiftwork
1) you miss rides ( - )
2) you get more pay ( + )
3) you have a warped social calendar ( - )
4) you have more time off ( + )
and i've got a new one now.
5) you get caught in a building Just after midnight with a power outage that's taken out the surrounding eighteen suburbs and you then have to work in a data centre until shit comes back online, it was fun getting the car outta the building though!!
Thus far the ETR from energy australia has been 7:30am, then 3am, which has just passed, and now 4:30 am *sigh*. Dont mind me, just complaining to no one who doesn't particularly give two shits.

heh, well my missus works for a inner city council as a ranger, so she gets a uniform and has a bit of a bizzaro roster, so is accomodating of my whacked out pattern.
oh and yeah, sleeping pattern, only got up 50 minutes ago, slept from about 8am - 2ish. Ah well, pro's and cons. biggest pro is the flexibility of the time off and the pay.
p.s. power restored about 4am at work.

9. Explaining to the kids why you go off your nut when they wake you up after only 2hrs sleep. Weekends are hard, usually the missus takes them out for the day.
We do 12hr shifts 6pm to 6am, which is better than the old 10pm to 10am that we use to do.
It's only when you start working most w-ends that you realise almost all social events are on w-ends and how much you are missing out on.

yeh shift work sucks.
done it on and off for last 4 years in a few different jobs.
i find being young all my mates go out friday and sat night, and doing uni i worked friday and sat night, so no social life.
it is good cause extra money, but cant spend it or go out.
well i chose to be a nurse so i will live with it, or just do community and work 9-5.. lol
its hard finding someone who understands your job your commitment and everything else that comes with the job, like as a nurse you nearly always do overtime each week, your never home at the same time and you cant commit to things cause your roster changes more frequently then the weather in melbourne.

That's for her to worry about me. She knows her place. Hahaha.. We have acoustic insulation in the front rooms, so I'll just be shutting the bedroom doors and won't hear a thing.
Don't tell her I said that.
