ZZR 1100 coolant - what do we all use?

Post by McBarry »

G'Day,

"Jed" needs a drink of new coolant..
Service manual mentions specs, but I'm more interested in what products members here use.

Thx for any replies,
Regs, Dave

I use a product called Tec PGXL. It is a heavy duty coolant used in the trucking industry and is sold by Cummins.
It meets all of the specs for the old ZXR and then some. If it is tested every six months the coolant lasts for five years in a truck that would do over 1,000,000 km so I think it will stay in my radiator for ever. It does however find all of the smallest leaks which is a good thing any way. I use PGXL in everything I own with a radiator.

Used any old shit in my D1 for years, never lost any, never overheated, seems not to matter what you put in the farkr.

So you've got the best model of the best bike, well done mate, and welcome

Thx for the thoughts guys,

yeah, love the machine so far..
was a write-off, repaired, and now I'm going through each system to ensure it's function.
just did the shims myself, gotta replace exhaust gaskets,(too easy), some fairing patching before respray to factory red. (Had to straighten the fairing bracket - what a painful episode that was...)
Decals next - damned expensive for orig. lower fairing ZZR's too.
just did brake pads, coolant & oil next.

so slowly working my way through. Dunno the dyno but it goes like a dog shot in the a*s*, is good on fuel if I don't cane it,... a really nice return to riding after a 10yr absence fro the last one - an A2 GPZ 9.

Thx again for thoughts etc..

Dave
ps: might change my sig to "Dave 286" lol, lol
