[VIC] Mt Martha - how hard is it to get to?

Post by Cath »

How hard is it for an out-of-stater to get to Mt Martha? How far from Melbourne (taxi distance? bus distance? train distance?)
Does anyone live near Mt Martha?

Why: This bike has been up for sale for quite some time, and I like the look of it (as an interim bike, of course)
Road: 2005 ZX10R - not named yet
Road: 2008 Z750 - Kwak
Track: 2006 ZX6R - Yoshi (with a very Genki undertail)

Mt Martha is around 65 kms south east of the city, on the bay. You could get the train to frankston and get a bus from there. A cab would cost about $100 from the cbd.

Suggest you use whereis.com to figure out the best route and exact time. Would also suggest hiring a car for the day to go down or getting a hired car (as opposed to a taxi) it would be cheaper.

Cath,
it'll set you back about $150 for a cab........I did it once to Mornington from the casino.
I'm sure one of us Vic guys can get you from the airport to there
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.

Mt Martha is about 5-10 mins from Mornington (by car)
and Mornington is about 15 mins from Frankston
Frankston is got to by train (45 mins from city)
or bus .(about the same)
all on the bay...down south east of the CBD
(CBD is where the top star is.)
and ignore the middle star..used to center the map

maybe pm one of our SE Melb members
maybe Rob (who has black ZX6) or Marranda (an earlier 6)
and see if they can have a bo-peep for you

I live there! :P

From the city it's easy to get to - drive down Nepean Hwy (St Kilda Rd at the city end, becomes Nepean Hwy) until it becomes one lane then it's about 500 metres before you turn right. Follow the road (Uralla Drv) and you're at the shops.

60 minutes to/from the city by bike or car with no traffic. Cab... well you just wouldn't, it would be cheaper to get a limo. :P

PT is possible, it's just under an hour from the city to Frankston the train, and around an hour on the bus from Frankston to Mt Martha shops. Allow up to 2.5-3 hours total though, because the buses only run once an hour (and less on weekends).

If you time the visit on a weekend that I am home , I will pick you up .
There is a Bus that goes from the airport down South at least to Frankston , maybe Mornington as well .
The airport bus drops off near my house so could pick you up from Moorabbin and take you to check out the scoot .
Im sure accomodation can be arranged too .
Maybe a local can have a look for you , before you come down ?
Ummmm let me see
