This particular Pandoras Box has been opened several times before.
I suggest you put mono in the search (button above) and read all the others first.
See the thing is, its dangerous and ppl tend to have pretty strong views on it.
Espec those that cant (sorry wont, all BIKES can mono) do it....

Apart from the legal aspect its just not smart to promote a dangerous thing.... (again)

ps. I LOVE IT !!!!!

Forkseal replacement is another one too..
Wheel bearings, headstem bearings... hehe.

oh btw, go for your life , however if you've never done a wheelie before, theres no such thing as a controlled one until you've done it alot

Stuntlife wanted me to register - and I couldn't be bothered.

Topic has been covered a lot, couple of links for ya...

http://www.ksrc-au.com/html/how_to_chuck_a_wheelie.html

Firstly, consider the ramifications of monos, and the various results. Above mentioned wear and tear (Add chain, sprockets, clutch and rear tyre) + possible convictions for not being in control of your vehicle, dangerous driving and even hooning. Also, what effect would dropping the bike have? Cost of fairings, bars, tail and subframe, damage to kit/hat, personal injury  Is it worth learning the technique in this manner? For the price of 1 drop, you could buy an unregistered trail bike and practice on nice soft grass - low cost of drop repair and miminal risk of injury.

Also, don't expect to be hooking it up big time from the start - this WILL put you on your arse. Start small, off the power not clutch and aim for maintaining the wheel in the air over distance, not how high the wheel goes. General technique is to rev to about 6k in first, open throttle to end stop and back it off as wheel rises. First attempts usually don't lift the wheel, and when it does you'll shit ya self and slam it straight down. If after a number of attempts the front is staying firmly planted, turn off bike and twist throttle half way then twist as above. Is it really at end stop? Probably not. Try again with your hand rolled around the grip so its easier to open it more.

isnt it funny how we human beans dont worry about the costs of showing off but when it comes to enhancing our skills to save ourselves down the track cost is an issue :?

Go for it man!

Clutch in, first gear, rev it up to 16k rpm then throw the clutch!

Remember to get someone to record the whole thing on video, at least we'll have some memories of you.

i was gunna comment that i doubt they will teach u to wheelie...

heres a simple version ...

1. rev engine really hard
2.drop clutch
3.pick up self off arse
4.pick up bike
5.replace bent/broken pieces of bike
6. go back to step one

i think aardvark's little article is pretty good.

throttle on to about 6grand, chop throttle off and back on quickly should give you a good power wheelie.
but hold on tight with ur knees and cover ur rear brake. don't cut the throttle when u shit urself or there go ur fork seals.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

tho with a 6, id be suprised if u can power wheelie them with standard gearing..

stuntlife has guys doin sum shit u guys would not believe (ive seen boxer doin it on my/greeny's bikes, and hes not even the best of em!!) ...so the article is worth a read..

ive always been a power wheelie man, but im starting to clutch em up now, and every 1 i speak to seems to think clutch-ups r better...and easier to control...
