Its too hard to choose! Went down to what was 'Whales' Kwaka just after lunch to look at the 14 and the remaining 12rs and cannot make a decision. The 14 is obviously more up to date and quite light for its size but the 12 is $5000 cheaper, not exactly gutless and from what I have seen handles well....I'll have to wait for a test ride on each one I guess... Id buy the 12, well I did actually.
With the coin you save you can put some goodies on it, eg pipe, suspension etc
The suspension will be at least as good as on the 14, I dont think you'll notice the difference between the 132KW and 140KW difference in power, and the 12 looks sportier and will probably handle a track day easier due to being a tad lighter and more ground clearance.
As far as mechanical issues with the 12, they are one of the better bikes going around ATM as they are at the end of their model run and the problems have been ironed out over the years. The 14 comes with better tyres standard, but who cares you change em soon enough anyway.
Check the ergo's on both too, as I found the 12 way more comfy due to the extra leg room.
Personally my 12 handles like its on rails due to the grand I put into having gold valves and new springs put in it.
Only reason the spend the extra coin on the 14 is braggin rights as it may be .25 of a second quicker down at the drags.
The 12 is unbelievable value, just buy it, dont think about it.
