G'day folks. I was reading this and with my new bike [97 ZX9] I was expecting to get around 6 litres per hundred or thereabouts giving me a range of about 300km+ from the 20L tank. However, I was amazed when I filled up at 200km and only fit 9 litres in. That means I'm getting 4.5 litres per hundred, and a range of over 400km from a tankful. This is regular commuting, averaging about 80km/h. I haven't yet pushed the rev counter past 6000rpm [too scared of speeding fines] so maybe that explains it. I also only weigh 62kg, so that helps. But considering the official figures for consumption show about 6.5L per hundred I am extremely happy.

Best big bike I ever saw for fuel consumption was the mighty GPZ900 in group rides we would fill tanks from near empty (country riding) & the GPZ was always 1/2 full

Dam... I get 4 sessions max at EC out of a full tank on the ZX6R. Every session is around 15min so that's about 17L/hr!

Hi again,
Just been for a ride up in the Snowy Mountains, cruising at highway speed and still got less than 5 litres to the 100km!! Wow I love this bike. Considering I had strong headwinds most of the way, $20 to top it up at 300km, paying $1.70 for BP Ultimate wasn't a bad thing at all.
