He said the relevant political factions - I think that was a reference to the biker groups like the United Motorcycle Council ??

Freedom - yes, technically, the members of this loosely-affiliated 'group', could be 'declared' under the SA legislation. But in order for this to happen, it would have to be established that this group constituted the type of threat that the other 'declared' organisations constitute.

The chances of this happening are sweet fuck-all. This group, regardless of a couple of speeding hoons ( I do not condone any speeding or anti-social behaviour...) - is not going to ever be a 'declared' organisation.

This is where the spin-doctors from those organisations replace the spin-doctors from the legislators. Sure, the South Bondi Bowling Club might have a couple of ex-jailbirds as members - but what benefit to society is there in declaring the South Bondi Bowling Club as a 'declared' organisation ?? None at all, which is why it would never happen, regardless of the fact that the legislation exists.

In order to be 'declared', it needs to be established that members of certain clubs are or could be engaged in the sort of actions which do undermine the rest of society......this is why the legislation, although able to be applied to many, is only going to target the few.

That is my take on how this stuff is meant to work anyway.....

I think you've hit the nail on the head as far as the "spirit" of the proposed law is concerned Gos - the problem is that some time down the track some arsehat will utilise the letter of the law, and by then it will be too late to do anything about it as we will have passed it into law.

Maybe we should move the Vic and kill two stones with one bird - get some people riding on those awesome roads and avoid the dodgy laws ;)

Threat to Society......

Political parties who have no policies that contribute to the actual running of the country but address a couple of selected issues to fit their own agenda....now that's an organisation that should be declared an absolute waste of time, money and effort...

Perhaps come down to Vic and get two birds stoned :D Better than risking the over zealous Vic TMG or a Corolla parked on the side of the road with some life saving camera equipment stuffed into it .
Having recently being done for spliting a pair of cars and being done for $193 and 2 points , Im not sure Vic is the place to ride . Apart from PI and Broadford of course .
Ummmm let me see

Freedom1854 wrote:Some of you are gettin it, most are not. There are already laws in place to deal with guns and drugs and whatever else you reckon bike clubs get up to. These laws to do not target illegal activity, they target groups. Any group, there is nothing in the legislation that limits it to 1% Clubs. Kawasaki Sportsbike Riders Club is a group. Therefore if a couple of you get up to no good on the roads of a weekend you could all rightfully be declared members of this group and the group could be Outlawed. This applies to all groups, named or nameless. Think about this guys and support the relevant political factions in your state before it's too late.

Funny you mention this Steve. Last week, a mate of mine was travelling down Williamstown Rd in Port Melbourne at @ 7.30am. He was pulled over and issued an infringement notice by a police officer for doing....now wait for this.....64kph!!!!!! Yep, you guessed it. A two lane divided road at 7.30am with little traffic and he gets rolled for 64kph!!! Now, while I agree, he was technically doing over the speed limit, I ask you, was this the intent the lawmakers had when they penned this law way back when??? I doubt it is in the spirit of the law with which it was written. But...then things got better. My mate is no wallflower and obviously voiced his unhappiness with being issued an infringement notice for a trivial and petty thing. This naturally displeased the officer present. Once the "Lecture" was delivered by the 20 something year old constable, my mate was instructed to leave. The process invluding the "Lecture" on road safety and the dangerous manner in which he was operating the vehicle, plus the issuing of the Infringement took 20 minutes. My mate then had to depart and make it across a couple of lanes to turn right. During this procedure, prior to the traction control kicking in and doing it's job, the prodigous Torque of the turbo charged 6 cylinder falcon, caused a split second of wheelspin as the manoevre was conducted. The ever vigilant young constable, then proceeded to pull my mate back over and commence yelling and screaming as to what a HOON he was. (My mate is a mature 45 year old business man!!) The Constable then proceeded to tell him he was going to impound the vehicle and charge him under the hoon laws!!! I kid you not. My mate then let loose and gave the young kid an earful and let it be known that he would defend this in court and take it as far as he needed to!!! It went as far as my mate having to call a cab as the constable commenced procedures. Upon arrival of the taxi, the young constable, perhaps figuring that this would end in tears for him, backed down and allowed my mate to leave. This process now eating up another 40 minutes of my mates time.

I share this story, as it is typical of what can happen when laws are introduced which remove the rights and freedoms of the people. Even the Hoon laws go against my grain. You are guilty untill proven innocent under these laws. What happened to the onus of proof being on the prosecution????? Nah fuck that, we'll impound your car and then you have to prove US wrong!!! Sounds a little fucked up to me!!! But, it highlights, just how easily laws can be manipulated by those who wish to!!!! Think about it........while I agree the original advert posted has little credibility and the use of anything Nazi in it's propaganda is a direct correlation to it's credibility, we should not forget that the laws enacted in SA and proposed in other states ARE in fact a restriction of our basic rights as citizens to associate with whom ever we wish!!

I am still of the belief that the police should have NO right to impede your travels without "Due Cause"! As in, if I am sticking to the road rules, observing all speed limits and driving/riding as per the relevent states roads act, then they should not have the right to pull me over and breath test me, licence check me, or do anything for that matter. I am sure they can find enough drunk drivers watching people hop in there cars at the hotel car park, I am sure they can use current technology to read my number plate and do a licence check via one of their fang dangled computers to make sure I have a licence and I am positive they could defect more cars walking through A public car park than they do with their random roadblocks for licence, rego and RWC checks!!! I am sick to death of being pulled over for doing nothing wrong!! :x

Not too many of them running around Au. Don't go to where the tigers are and they can't get you. A bit like sharks - I have an agreement with them...I don't go in their water and they don't come on my land...simple...

It's all about risk management... :kuda:

The biggest threat is running out of Jim Beam and beer. One has to live in Utah, U.S.A. to understand this, as the state is run by Mormons, (morons), that are tea totalers on the surface but closet drunks behind closed doors. They make laws such as, "our children cannot see alcoholic beverages in a restaurant as it will corupt them", so we have to have a wall between the bar and the eating area?????? A sure sign of severe mental retardation.
I watch the U.S. senators and legislators and find that we in the U.S. are complete idiots, myself included. We are going to run ourselves into the ground with stupidity.
All police are not bad. It's like the general population most are good, 10 percent are really good and 10 percent are total assholes and the rest of us are somewhere in between. Cheers to all you wonderful Aussies. I like your attitude.
