Ian, probably not the best way to manage the situation. Gos was just voicing his opinion. Most of us agree that this spiked gear has its dangers. I reckon some of it looks good, but only on show bikes. It has no place on the road or track. I stumbled across your stuff on ebay today and then saw this thread going. I was going to order some of the black bar ends and pickups for my zx6r because the honestly do look like some quality gear, but after your responses to whats been posted turns me right off.
No doubt this could have been handled differently. Gos couldve pm'd you, or you couldve replied via pm and let it die, but it didnt happen. oh well.
good luck with the business though

Ian - i make this point only as an established KSRC-ian , and knowing Gos reasonably....well...kinda...well...i shagged his mum ok..ive said it!!
seriously tho, if u a member of ksrc were to crash on a ride and be impailed by one of these, or sum other pecker were to crash and inflict injury on one of us, we would be up in arms... we are more than just a forum- we are a community, freinds, drinking pals, and "root buddies" (stace reading this?? i put in a special mention for him)...
as one of our older and more *cough* mature members, a lot of the younger guys take advice of the hairy boobed man (gos) ...so he sees it as his point to warn them about the dangers...
as a salesman i have to stand behind my products 100% of the time, and im liable for any shit that hits the fan- if Gos' comments offended u how are u going to take it if sum assclown tried to sue u for injuries or such??
i agree there are other guys making this product... and ppl could buy it from them..i just kno i personally would sleep better if i werent selling a product that i myself (like u have mentioned) find dangerous...
sorry bout the rant... im just hormonal and dont like the forum being turned into a shit slinging match...

That sounds like good advice to me. Its about minimising the risks. Pointy bits sticking out of a bike increase the risk. And you're defending this? As I said, irresponsible. I think what you're really upset about is people trying to get between you and your money. Sure there are other tossers selling them, so lets ban the stupid things and put an end to it.Ian_zx6r wrote:So maybe next time you go for a ride, you should check your bike completely, make sure your riding gear is 100% perfect. Don't even think about exceeding the speed limit, and be careful about how much you've had to drink the night before
I think it was Aardvark who pointed out in another thread that sometimes people have to be protected from themselves.
What brains? He's willing to risk the safety of every other road user and pedestrian that might be anywhere near him? Sounds like an irresponsible tw@t to me.I just put a set of spiked bar ends on a ZX10R customer who dropped around to my house tonight. He has enough brains to know they are a danger, but he also has enough brains to know that the likelyhood of anything bad happening is such a small amount that he is willing to take the risk
Yes its a free country and I'm free to voice my opinion.

Like many others (I assume), I've been reading this thread, not posting in it and but forming my own opinions
Up until I saw this:
Up until I saw this:
Ian - it's a forum. If you don't want other people posting opinions (also know as "potential customer feedback"), maybe you should advertise your goods in a place that isn't set up for the exchange of opinions? Like paying money for an ad. I'm not saying you shouldn't be here at all - I'm just trying to point out to you the futility / irony of complaining about responses to something you've posted in a forum that allows every monkey with internet access to spray their opinion. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Seriously - you're barking up the wrong tree with that complaint.Ian_zx6r wrote:I'm quite offended that you can blurt your opinionated crap against anything of my product. If you have a problem with it KEEP IT TO YOURSELF.

I think you may also find its against the RTA laws to fit such objects. Also know as "protrusion rulings." I had to take the driving lights and bracket off the front of my commodore to pass rego all because it was outside the body of the vehicle, and particularly because had corners, which could be point and cause injury in the event of a collision, even though the bracket was "POLICE" standard issue on their vehicles up until 2000.

Yep, anything that could potentially cause an injury to a pedestrian generally won't pass muster with either rego or the coppers.Poyda wrote:......I think you may also find its against the RTA laws to fit such objects. Just in case anyone is concerned that I am doing my best to push this guy off the site, nothing could be further from the truth. I want to ensure that my opinion of the spiked accesories (bar-ends, pick-up knobs etc) is understood by all to be a *stand-alone* opinion on these items only.
I rather like the other pick-up knobs, they are a better size than the ones currently fitted to the MFP12, and a bit smaller than the whoppers we can get from another site sponsor.....so they would suit me fine. The bar-ends with the big 'K' inscribed are also a nice looking piece of bling.
cheers

Think again.Poyda wrote:I think you may also find its against the RTA laws to fit such objects.

Less than 7 days ago, my bike was inspected by VicRoads Inspection Officer
with the spiked bar ends & spiked spools fitted.
He actually thought they were groovy looking. Told him they were good for
gouging the fuck outta cars when lane splitting as well.
Anyways he had no problems with em.

The "I'll now relate a made-up an anecdote that proves what a smart/cool/tough/sexy/shrewd/witty/observant/influential (delete as applicable) motherfucker I am" approach to debating a point has been discredited on the Internet back in about 1989.MG wrote:Think again.Poyda wrote:I think you may also find its against the RTA laws to fit such objects.

If the story about a motor registry technical officer approving of potentially-dangerous aftermarket accessories is true, then the said motor registry technical officer is an incompetent moron who isn't doing his job, in which case, congratulations, you are now supported in your view by at least one incompetent moron... and quite possibly other incompetent morons, as well.
If you're making the story up, then you're not only a liar, but a crap liar, because you can't even make up a story which provides adequate support for your view.
Either way, nice going confirming what a tool, and a Whitworth one at that, you continue to be. It says something about you that you're jumping to the defence of someone who used this forum for unsolicited advertising of the tacky trinkets he hawks, then arced up at an established and knowledgeable member who expressed measured, valid criticism. One aggressive meathead deserves another.
You can take it up with fella then.I-K wrote:the said motor registry technical officer is an incompetent moron who isn't doing his job
Its not my problem if the Inspector has or hasent done his job. I turned up for the
appointment, presented the bike as is. He did his checks & whatever he had to do
and I was on my way back to work.
The Police that saw em had no problems with em as well.
I'm happy with em, & at the end of the day, thats all that matters.

You made the proposition about sticking em up asses. I simply offered to assist you in
a way that I saw fit.

Irrelevant point. We dont live in NSW.Poyda wrote:I think you may also find its against the RTA laws to fit such objects. Also know as "protrusion rulings."
