I've jumped on a few touring sites and spoken to a few mates with beemers and the likes, and come to the conclusion that a GTR may not be a bad choice after all...(if i can get over it's dingo looks!)
Apparently they are very reliable in the drive train with less leakage issues than the beemers. They are also as an added bonus about half the price! So I've started looking for a GTR! There is a nice blue one with low K's up for sale ATM. I may have a more serious sniff about soon!

good luck finding one of those mate, they were pretty thin on the ground when they were new......I know of 1 only up here, it has been around for a few years, has a Ulyssess nutcase on board, has done an obscene amount of km, and still going strong today....

I am pretty sure these were a variant on the old GpZ900 motor, bored out to 1000 and de-tuned a bit ? plus the shaft drive of course......

If you want any reviews, sing out - I have a few of them in the library

there are about 15 of them being advertised across various mags and electronic publications ATM Gos. So no lack of choice. They range in price from $3500 for a shitter to 13K for a real late model thing! So I am actually a little spoilt for choice right now. I'll keep you posted!

I'm pretty sure the GTR had a fairly decent update around 1994 or 1995, so one of these could be worth looking at.........When I find any decent REVS or TW articles I will let you know ...

Nothing wrong with getting dirty (even if the old knees cant take it anymore)
I have all these visions of young blokes on R1's and the like getting rounded up by this old GTR loaded to the gunnels with sparks flying off it everywhere and the black pearl in pursuit..... CLASSIC
