ok i am back again .........................................
i have been trying to figure out today what is goin on
so far i charged the bat last night over night
and i thought that might be a small part of the cure
when i tryed to start it today it wasnt evan starting just making a ticking noise ?????
sounds likes it coming form the middle of the bike my horn and lights all work we tryed to roll start it in 2nd n that was a fail aswell
could the lil twistables cirle thing that sits just below your knee on the right hand side a mate fiddled with it apparently its has something to do with ur timin ???

i got no clue

will not make a big difference.

Battery may be dead, even if you have charged it.
I would start lookin at a replacement battery and a multimeter. make sure your reg/rec is putting out the correct voltage and not frying batteries. Batteries smell like rotten eggs when they are being over-charged. Did the smell you mentioned smell anything like that?
A dead rec/reg will stop the bike running and/or destroy the battery. Would still be a good idea to clean the carbs, but i think you would probably get it to fire and run a bit even if the carbs were dodgy.

As mentioned before, check the output from the stators and check the voltage regulator/rectifier.

I had a very similar problem once and it turned out the harness coming off the stators wasn't connected to the voltage regulator. It looks like a heatsink and it's right under your fuel tank. When you take it off, make sure you disconnect both fuel and vacuum hoses coming off the tap.

Also, i'd suggest putting an inline fuel filter on the hose between the tap and the carbs. Will catch all the tiny sediments and rust your tank may have.
