Be aware...old triple motors can sometimes suffer if they haven't been running for a while.
A crankcase leak-down/pressure test should be performed to insure that the crankshaft seals are good and to confirm that you do not have air leaks somewhere that will cause the bike to not run properly or could cause damage due to a “lean” condition
- IF it passes these tests – you MAY not need to replace the crankshaft – however, the crankshaft bearings still may be bad and if the engine is run, you may suffer damage as a result.
Below is a check list you might find invaluable if you decide to buy or rebuild the 400.

No 400's in '71.They came along in I think '74. INMO anyone who calls a triple the devils bike obviously hasn't ridden one.
