I've got an older Dainese that I've had since 1998, and it's been really good. Once you've got it on you can't feel it. The only problem has been that in the last 10 years the kidney belt that goes around my gut seems to have inexplicably got shorter. Must have shrunk from all the sweat or something
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Got myself the Dainese Wave 2. It felt pretty good on under the jacket and still allowed for comfortable movement, i'm happy with it so far :)
This beer is making me AWESOME!

Got a Dainese Back Protector. Its the honeycomb one with kidney straps. Very flexible and moves side to side with your body.
Added bonus of being cool due to the weave and fits very well. They come in different sizes so make sure to get one that fits your back properly. A bit exxy compared to the rest on the market

Had a EC T2 incident that had me fall on my back. Didnt feel the impact, checked the protector and still seems fine. If the weave was crushed then time to replace.

There's a great test here on back protectors

I've got a friend coming over from England in a couple of weeks, might get them to bring one over :-)

I have a Dainese Back Protector, on the advice from my Friends.
I bought mine in Italy when I was there in September (found the Dainese Superstore, and had some fun in there), tried on a few, and tried them on with jackets to see which was more comfortable.

It took a while for me to get used to it while riding, but now I really dont notice it as much. Comfortable yes... the only thing I would suggest, is if you are going to by a new jacket, make sure you take the back protector with you.. it makes a difference.

Good Luck with finding the one that you want

I've got my dianese back protector sitting in the back of my mates dianese jacket and it's so comfortable i've ridden for 3 days with it and forgot it was there until I read through this thread.

I can't comment on the different/effectiveness of the different style tho. This one is not strapped directly to the body, but is inside the jacket. It's convenient not having to have to take it off/put it on which means you always use it without even thinking about it, even for the shortest ride because it's in the jacket. :) They come in 2 different sizes for different jackets i believe, hope it fits in whatever jacket i end up buying. :?
