Key broken off in lock...

A few years ago when I had a Ford some great darling stole my handbag so I had to get the ignition barrel changed in the car & new keys.
Cost me $360 & now I think about it that must have been 7 years ago.
So probably rip you off more now if you have to change it over.
I'd have a go at mangling what you've got first.

If you have a very thin piece of wire, you can put a little bend on the tip, then try to work it in between the key and the tumblers and get the bent tip in behind the key, then try to pull it back towards you ? That's my idea anyway !

I opened the car, jumped in went to turn the key nothing... hmm.. key won't turn... pulled the key out.. ah fuck it's broken.. I thought it broken in the ignition. jumped out and back tracked, and found the key worked in the door.. AH HAA.. there's the rest of the key then...

Bloody annoying, as I was leaving work to go to a job, and couldn't even go anywhere... got a lift into the city, picked Sarah up who had the other key, and back to the office... What a crap day that was...

a bit of bubble gum on a stick..

use two really small screw drivers to get it out by sandwiching it

If you ask HidePenny nicely he has a large contingient of power tools recently used for removing his bike seat. Some of these may come in useful!

Have you tried turning the lock on it's side and shaking the key out?

Or try the snake venom method and suck it out?

Remove the window and weld the door shut. Now you have Dukes Of Hazard style.

Use Sarah's tweezers when she's not home. Once you've finished try them to remove the key.

Harden the fuck up and spend some $ on a lock smith

Dan,

Take the lock out, weld a metal plate over it, spray it red.

Go to bunnings and get one of those sliding shutters for gates and garden sheds and a padlock

screw in and weld

easy fix

by the time he spends 4 hrs whinging to us about it, 6 hours trying to fix it, 24 beers bribing mates to help, 3 pizzas and a garlic bread , and several tools...he might as well of just taken it to a locky and asked him to use HIS tools to pull it out... Dan do u want me to call a locky and get a quote for u??

Why not go to a chemist and buy some fuggin tweezers?? Might cost like $10 and you have a tool (other than the one you're normally playing with)... and won't get in trouble with Sarah fir using the "good" tweezers

If you have a good quality hacksaw blade, like the shatterproof Bahco ones, you can fashion your own tweezers on the grinder.

I have made a pair of long slender tweezers like these for recovering dropped nuts and bolts that always find their way into obscure places ( I am a tightarse too and cant come at paying for a magnet on a stick.)

just get one of those old hard drives you've probably got laying about, take the rare earth magnet out of it, attach it to a long thin screwdriver with a flat ended blade and try to co-erce the fugger out of there. Best suggestion i've got, and those rare earth magnets are fricking strong too

just be careful you dont get it on the bodywork, as it'll almost certainly scratch the paint/ding the panel.
