Apparently the back of the rego label says it has to be near the rego plate.
OTOH, the ADR say it must be on the left-hand side.
But that's only what I've heard - check it out for yourselves!
ok quote time me thinks......

The ADR Vehicle Standards Bulletin #14 dated 1 Feb 2006
National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction
Section LL 'Motorcycles and 3 wheeled vehicles'

states on Page 6 of 18

REGISTRATION LABEL-
The Registration Label must be displayed in a transparent holder
on the LEFT HAND SIDE (my emphasis) of the machine
so that the label is clearly visible

NUMBER PLATES
A single number plate is required. It must be located at the rear of the motorcycle,
facing rearwards and no less than 300mm from the ground.

also
Under the National Road Rules...
'Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 1999 SR No 29/1999'
....they state exactly the same

hth

cheers
GOTTA LUV the 12R!!

Thanks Smitty, I didn't have time to look it up, but wanted to put the info out there. I should've kept my mouth shut until I had the quote myself - I hate it when people post "I heard from my sister's, boyfriend's postman's dog that...", but I'm guilty of it this time!

Thanks for finding the factual info.

I hid mine behind the left heel guard - never had a problem.
