You still running the stock can mate ?? I had to ditch mine real quick, almost got cleaned up by some inattentive f'wits at a couple of roundabouts down here , within the first 2 weeks !!! Now its *louder*, have had no problems at all with people not *seeing* (ie 'hearing') the bike.

And I just noticed in the original thread, that Smitty listed an '01 9R with the 411 muffler too... but I missed it.

Hey, does the '01 9R slip on or bolt on?? The parts diagram for it seems to show the muffler as a slip on.

The spare can I have is a 411 too but it definitely bolts on... :?

Maybe Kwaka left this part of their design team to the vacation student?! :)

Cheers

Rob
hey Rob

aren't they slip on bolt on??? whaaaazzhemeen
what I mean is...
doesn't the 9s intermediate pipe extend up into the can PAST the flange where it bolts on??

that make sense???

cheers

Smitty,

My '9r is exactly that. The intermediate pipe has a bolt on flange and has more pipe beyond the flange, which I think is the cat converter.

The ronayer or buykawasaki parts lists show this arrangement really clearly. You can see it in the equivalent thread in the exhaust forum.

The parts diagram for the '01 9R though, doesn't show any bolt on flange - hence my question. But... it looks like I have the '01 muffler as a spare... and it definitely has a mating plate to bolt onto the flange...

Any '01 9R owners on line to help clarify?

Cheers

Rob

No, the drongo I bought the bike from used it as a track bike and was too cheap a bastar* to buy an aftermarket one, he gutted the original and stuck a car exhaust pipe in it, sounded awesome, but Mr. Plod said it was a tad too loud. Tracked down an original one from Brighton Kawasaki, some one didn't want his from when he bough the bike new and they put it in storage, I picked it up as a s/hand item for $200. ha ha ha ha, have you seen the price of a new one.

i got my stock can from the states, haven't had it on, but the bracket, & flange all line up perfectly. it has different numbers on it from what you guys are quoting though. as most you know, i have a 96 6r.
the numbers on this can are,

model specific code: kaw3730600

The end can slips on and is secured to the pipe by 3 bolts.

Thanks again Flakey.

That means that the parts diagram isn't very specific.

Cool. Question answered.

Cheers
