Calling all Kwaka's with OEM exhaust cans!

Post by Robsalvv »

Folks,

Please check out this link for some background.

http://www.ksrc-au.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5909

I'm hoping to break down a bit of the mystery around the KHI markings... I'd be most grateful notworthy.gif if you would post the markings you have on your OEM exhaust and the bike model and year.

I'll start:

'02 9R, KHI K445

Many thanks in advance!

Rob

I'd hazard a guess that it stands for Kawasaki Heavy Industries

Yes, KHI stands for Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and the rest is the part number. Makes it easier if you need to order a new part.....

don't expect to get a part if you order with number stamped on the can. Check the previous thread, the correct part number is in the parts manual.

I have no idea why Kawasaki put one number on the can, and a different one in the parts listing :? its all a communist plot !!

Note, there are now 2 colour variations, pre 2005 are chrome and black and 2005 are full chrome (can be a problem if you have to replace one and not the other like was discovered with my insurance claim, luckly a black&chrome has been found to match). New chome/black ones are no longer being made aparently.

Call for OEM exhaust markings

Post by Robsalvv »

:?

Any more for any more???

Thanks to all those who've put in a contri so far.

For others... OEM exhausts will have a "KHI k xxx" stamping on them... I'm trying to develop a listing of xxx v's bike model and year.

I've even put a query into kawasaki.com since my local dealer hasn't been able to decipher for me!

Thanks in advance folks.

Thanks Flakey.

And I just noticed in the original thread, that Smitty listed an '01 9R with the 411 muffler too... but I missed it.

Hey, does the '01 9R slip on or bolt on?? The parts diagram for it seems to show the muffler as a slip on.

The spare can I have is a 411 too but it definitely bolts on... :?

Maybe Kwaka left this part of their design team to the vacation student?! :)

Cheers
