I am looking for a really good (Kwakka) bike mechanic in sydney, my nearly new (4000k's) zzr600 sounds like shite and i can't get the mechanic at the dealer i bought it from to listen to it properly. I have a feeling they don't like warranty work.
I compared it to the demo model at the shop and the demo sounded smooth, but mine sounded rough and it ticks like a gas stove starter while at 4000 revs.
I will pay another mechanic what it takes to write up a diagnosis for it so i can get the dealer to do the work.
If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.....

You "ASK"
the sales person politley first................then if they still won't listen "TELL"
them! If the mechnic won't come out and listen to the bike or you get told that you have to leave the bike there because they are busy "TELL" him to get a mechnic out to listen to the bike "NOW".
If they are not prepared to do that ask them for the address and phone number of the Head Office for Kawasaki Australia and you'll be contacting them because of their (dealer) reluctance to fix or offer any assistance on a bike that is currenty under warrenty. Or better still, ask to speak to the manager. You need to stand your ground on this! If they still give you a run around go somewhere else and have it fixed at another dealer and let them know of why. You have to be careful though because some dealers will not do warrenty work on a bike that was not sold 'new' by them. Some will some won't.

Hi Jewjew,
As SNR has said, I'd be insisting first, if they won't look at it ask whoever you speak for their name and if they are guaranteeing its perfectly safe to ride it away. I would speak to Kawasaki anyway.
Lloyd Penn (an independant mechanic) will do what you're looking for, he wrote a report for me on my Aprilias brake discs a few years ago, his shop is in Artarmon (near Chatswood).
Good Luck
Matt

Thanks Guys,
I have no issues with the salesmen at this particular shop, in fact he's a very likeable guy, but when i can stand in front of the mechanic and hear my bike ticking like a clock and he says "sounds fine to me, i can't hear anything, you should take better care of the chain (Ticking when the bike isn't moving?), this is maintenance not warranty work, mate if i can't hear anything i can't do the work on the bike".
I don't know what to do.....
Matt, i think i will see Lloyd Penn..Thanks Mate

If you are going down the whole warranty track you need the service manager not the salesman, I once made the mistake of asking the salesman to get someone out to set up the preload on my new 6r before i would ride it out of the shop door and got the comment "I am not a racer" but had i seen the service manager i may have got a diferent reply.
Knowing what i know now there is no way they could have got the preload right on that bike anyway.
If its making heaps of timing chain noises or valve clearance noises get into them but its the service manager you have to talk to, try being polite at first and then if you have to make a lot of noise in the middle of their shop at peak hour saturday morning.
I try to avoid using a dealer because i can find real people that do a better job and get it right the first time and charge less.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?
