Pro-marijuana group says some drivers may be safer 'stoned'

A northern NSW organisation that wants marijuana legalised says long-term users are more likely to drive more safely while under the influence than if they are forced to go without the drug.

A new study has revealed many cannabis users often drive after using the drug, which increases the risk of crashes.

It also revealed the only deterrent to driving stoned was police roadside testing.

I think we are pretty safe from the stoners myself, its the crazy young'uns on Ekky or Ice that scare me........the old hippies who drive around after a couple of choofs are not really a hazard imho...

Being from SA, i have alot of mates who think that weed is "totally safe and not in anyway a bad thing man" i get so pissed off at the argument that its safe to drive on, yeah we've all seen how good the reaction times are on ppl who are stoned...

driving while stoned: stupid

one time on the highway the car in front of me was crawling at 40kmh and moving around in the lane... so i overtook him and as i passed i looked over at him... his window was down and he had a bong hanging out of his mouth. i've seen this twice on residential streets in the past few years too. makes it really hard for me to believe that its safe.

ecstacy and ice: true ecstacy made properly is way less harmful than aspirin... but most of the time its made in some shitty backyard drug lab so u don't know what crap goes into it. ice, well i don't know much about that stuff, but apparently its really bad for u even if its made properly. it makes me laugh when people won't buy home brand paracetamol tablets but they're all to happy to buy drugs which were prolly made in some shithole. motto is to stay from party drugs.

Do you know its banned from archery and shooting coz it gives an unfair advantage... much like steriods in running etc...

Come to SA for a week, I see at least 1 or 2 people doing that in peak hours every day... I'm used to it now...

If a stoner crashes its at 5 kmh, normally in reverse too, and most likely into the garage door coz they forgot to open it...

for medicinal uses, it is still one of the most effective natural pain-reducing agents known to mankind. There are different types, its not all 'stoner' stuff, and the variety that has a really low % of THC is currently under trial for producing hemp fibre - the same stuff that the US wanted banned because DuPont made too much money manufacturing cotton products etc etc rant rant rant.......

The ACT govt are trying to get a medicinal trial approved, for pain-mangement techniques in chronic pain cases, where all other methods have proven ineffective.

So soon, hopefully, we will have the magic trifecta.............

and, let em drive , but first get em totally smashed and make it so they have to pass a defensive driving course while totally off their rockers.

Yep its happened since the dawn of cotton...

In the southern US they had cotton farms and slaves, and in the north they had hemp farms (George Washington even had a Hemp farm)...

The south got the church to help them make it "evil" and the rest is history...

Hemp can be grown way more environmentally friendly than cotton can any day due to the robustness of the plant itself... why is it called weed.... coz it grows like one...

I remember watching one of those "A Current Whinge" shows a while back where they did this. Put 3 people through a driving test from a defensive driving school, then got one to slam a few pints, one to smkoe a few joints and one to be straight...

The drinker failed the test with something like a 70% score,

The straight person passed with i think 88-90% or there abouts

The "stoned" person got 94% and came ahead of everone...

Horses for courses, i know some people i wouldn't trust to sit up straight stoned... Others you wouldn't even know....

well why we are on the subject of dacca and history, here is a little anecdote that you all should know.

After WW11, the US administration, as part of its "Hemp is Evil' campaign, decided to destroy hundreds of thousands of acres of natural hemp 'forests' that were located in *drum roll please*.........Bangladesh.

Once the hemp forests were gone, there was no natural defence against the monsoon, whiuch as we know, is a natural part of life in the tropics....

Monsoon rains come, plains that were once lush are now desert, and what happens *shock* landslides, mudslides, in fact total devastation of the entire area..........and in 30 years time, the famines still exist, the death of literally *millions* of Pakistanis can be laid directly at the feet of the US administration - because "Hemp Is Evil".......

I don't use the stuff, but the products that can be made from an entirely non THC-based products are renowned for strength, flexibility, durability, ease of manufacture, lack of wastage, and conservation of water resources.

That's the stupid thing, they can grow non drug forms of the plant for extended use everywhere but because the drug form is "evil" they won't even consider that....
