Kawasaki range 2006...Mr Not Impressed calling

Post by NovaCoder »

Who else is less the impressed with what we've seen so far :?:

ZX10: Yep ok, some slight improvements here and there but a really nasty set of cans with a fat arse....give me an 05 any day :(

ZZR13: All I can say is 'I hope those recent spy shots are inaccurate!'

ER6 (new model): It's ok and nice to see them try something different but at the end of the day it's just a budget twin and will not set the world alight.

ZX6: Nothing

Z1000/Z750: Again nothing. I was hoping for big changes next year to bring them back up to date (eg radial braking, revised suspension, underseat pipes).

Outgoing models: ZX12R? ZZR6? ER5?
Motorcycle's are inherently unstable...

I just hope they're not going to discontinue the ZZR600 :(

I would expect the 05 zx5r will be a rebaged o5 model with minum changes there selling plenty of the 05 model.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Yeah they leave a bit to be desired, although I don't mind the look of the ER6. I'm with you Collette,I hope it's not a replacement for the ZZR though. As I posted once before I think the ZZR600 is just about the perfect mid range "do everything" bike.

Maybe during the year they employed the chief designer from Ural or Hyosung.

I dont like the look of the new zzr1300 - providing its real spy shots of course.

It looks old fashioned

u should all be condemned to buying hondas then.
personally i think they could have done better, but it may be just cos they're new.
i like all models.
i do find it strange there hasn't been any talk about the zx6r
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

It's funny that everyone is so keen to shitbag the new bikes. A couple of points.

ZX10: Yeah, it has really ugly cans, but the fact of the matter is, anyone wanting to sell a new bike into Europe has to meet the new European emission standards. Have you happened to notice that the other manufacturers have provided hideous looking cans as well?

Besides, who buys a ZX10 and leaves the stock can on it??

ZZR1300: I have read just about every forum on the net with regards to the current leaked shots of this bike. I have even read the spanish and french ones using the crappy Google Translator. It seems opinion is divided 50/50. Guess who likes it? People who are sick of or too old to ride the new breed of sports bike. The ZZR is aimed at the same people who will otherwise buy a 'Busa, a K1200S or similar.

Guess who hates it? Those who are riding 'Busas and people with sportsbikes who seemed to be hoping that the new ZZR was going to be a ZX10 with a bigger motor.

ER6: It's probably not going to set the world on fire, but it's a bike built for a demographic. Kawasaki have hit the nail on the head with this one. A budget bike that looks fantastic! I bet they sell heaps.

ZX6: Well, we just had an update of this model... Sheesh.

Zthou and Z7: Do they really need to be upgraded? They could probably do with a tweak or two and I'm sure Kawasaki still have a couple of suprises in store for the Intermot coming up soon.

Personally, if those shots of the ZZR are real, then I'm going to start saving today! The ZX10, whilst I initially thought it looked crap, is starting to grow on me. The ER6 is spot on. I can't wait to see some of these things in the flesh!

At the end of the day, which one were you hanging out for? Had you just been hoping that it was going to be the horniest looking bike ever made, or did you really have plans on buying one?

I say bravo to the guys and girls at Kawasaki. They've made their new range of bikes different to the other bikes on the market. If I wanted to buy a Honda, I'd buy a Honda...

The 06 ZX6R is in the middle of it's 'current shape' life. The 05 ZX6R is the C1, the 06 will be the C2. The 06 will receive a different colour range, there will be green (of course), black and another colour (the guys at Brighton couldn't remeber what the 3rd colour was but it is thought to be the silver-ish colour the 10 comes in.) It may also receive very minor updates, but nothing to be overly excited about.
This years 10R is model #2, in 06 we will see a new design. (Every 2 years is when Kawasaki decide to update or change the design for their sportsbike range, I'm unsure about their other range of bikes.)

If the current pictures of the 06 10R are correct, it does not look that fantastic IMO, butthen again I was not overly impressed with under seat exhaust of the 05 6R when it was first released, but now I think its not oo bad.

Hey Java, Brighton Kawa have a Blue 05 ZX6R left. No green ones though :(
The boys at Brighton Kawa say the 06 ZX6R's are due to land in the showroom late next month.

I agree with most points but don't buy the 10 arguement. The new one from any angle looks pretty ordinary when compared to the previous model. The 04/05's have a fairly thin, neat, agressive look to them, whereas the new jobby looks a bit to fat around the rear and the front looks docile.

I think they're doing a bit of a me too with the underseat exhausts and probably could have left it on the side.

Be interesting to see what they look like in the flesh.

Ive gotta say, im a big fan of the direction the designs are going.
Im keen as on buying a 2006 zx10r, i reckon they are the best looking bike since the 7r p series, not quite as nice on the eye but the performance is too good to be ignored.

The big problem i have is i havent got the skill to ride the 7r to its limits let alone the zx10r beastie.

but that wont stop me buying one.
