Today I picked up a 1983 GPZ250 from a friend who no longer wanted to sacrifice garage space to it.
It needs engine work done. Its going to be my project over the coming months to bring her back to smooth running. Hopefully I get on the road by Christmas (Busy with uni till november).

It is a chain drive model with 18" wheels, twin brake rotors on the front, a drum on the back, SOHC 4 valve air cooled inline twin 250, 6 speed, gas forks and 2-1 exhaust.

I had an AR125 two stroke many moons ago which looked really similar to that...........Hmmmmm Two stroke learner bikes :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

bloody hell Krusty
that looks like my old scoot
I had one for a few years in the late 80s
did a conversion ..belt to chain, did up the engine
re-did the paint ..all in Kwaka red, tinted screen silver wheels
2-1 zorst

mate they are good lil' jigger
pretty foolproof, they stop and handle ok
they are a bit of a prick to start when cold
and you MUST have the valve clearances right, otherwise the
valve heads get chewed orf (I know that from experience)

When you said the screen is tinted do you mean tinted dark or painted the same as the rest of the bike.
The wheels on mine are white.
With the 2-1, did you weld the part where the 2 pipes go into 1 as this one is not welded.
If it was yours you'll be sadened that the later owners have appeared not to look after it as the original motor has been swaped over with what seems to be something from the wreckers which blows smoke and needs a few gaskets. Hopefully I'll be able to put together something good with both of them

I have finally completed fixing up the dud valves and put her back together and got a new battery and she lives again :D

I'm just waiting on some new air filters and to get the carbs syncd a bit better and its off to get a blue slip and rego.

I haven't decided yet, at this stage I'm inclined to keep it in the family.
