I compared 04 6R and 10R, Not a lot of difference regarding cornering (the 10 being a bit heavier ofcourse)...
More power by a longshot on the 10, but the 6 is no-slow poke either.
I ended up buying the 6 for several reasons... The thing that ended up deciding it for me was the availability of an As-New (less than 8000 on the clock) 03 ZX6R with a lot of addon's already on it, for about $3000 less than new price...
Yeah I've been dreaming the 10 alot, awesome look etc. The 6 is definitely not bad, but it's still a 6

I'm going to be taking both out for a test-ride myself in the next few weeks (keep you posted). I'm also going to take out both the Z750 and Z1000 to see if it is worth the extra.

Wouldnt mind testing out a 10r, the 6 seems to have plenty of power for around town but i could use a bit more tourqe with my larger frame.
Got it booked in for a throttlebody balance and a set of plugs and to stop all those poppy noises they make off throttle at 10000rpms through the twisties so it might come up with a fair bit more throttle resonce after that one, the sparrows riding the other sixes just ride away fom me at times.
Of course theres little problems like the law enforcment community and the need for better throttle control but after the six I am sure I could live with it, its just a matter of going through the hoops at the local dealer who will probably let me ride it down the local freeway which isnt really a good indicater anyway.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?
2004 jamie its due for a tune up and i should hang onto it for another 12 months yet at least, I just got it to the stage where it makes me grin like a idiot twice daily.
Wheelie popage would be good too but i should wait a little yet, the 6 is a fair step up from a 250 and you have to relearn to ride them too a degree but once you have the feel for it there great fun, I will have to bump into you on a ride sometime we dont seem to cross paths.

Heh, we only seem to see each other when there's beer involved, eh? Keep me in mind when you upgrade, I'm after a 6, and I should be back from overseas when you're selling. From the sounds of it, a 10 is too much bike for me -J.
I own an 04 6R and have ridden both the 05 6R and the 04 10R.
04 6R (on 208 GPs)
Pros: Power, Looks , steering
Cons: Harsh Damping
05 6R (on Power Race)
Pros: Ride quality, Power, Comfort ,finish
Cons: steering a little vague, heavier, fat arse
04 10R (on 208 GPs)
Pros: Power+, steering
Cons: Harsh damping (not as bad as 04 6R)
On the road the 05 6R has the best ride quality when pushing over bumps, it would seem at the expense of the steering (which is still very good though), however this could be tyre related. The 10R has less bottom end than I would have thought for a 1000 but I haven't ridden any of the others from the last couple of years so maybe it is indicative of the modern breed. Top end was scary fast though.
The 10R also seemed more composed than the 04 6R over the bumpy stuff.

Wet weather might be sending me a bit loopy.
That and watching the young bloke on the 10 yesterday pulling into the merge lane to get out of trafic for the big wheelie while i was at work.
Ok.. there is your problem right there.... you should CATCH UP with them in the twisty bits, sothat they dont pass you on the straight....
And you can pull wheelies on the 6.... ... so go out for a smoko break, pull out of the traffic and pull a wheelie... end then endo back into the carpark
I have a 03 636 & I have had a small ride on a 04/05 ZX10, The 10 is SOOOOO much more comfortable on the jewels, & the power is good in the first 3 gears, I liked the easy 140kph wheelie & the 160kph 1st gear, but I think I might get myself in some big trouble on the 10 where as the 636, is just powerful enough to be a hooligan & yet keep me upright & ok with the gf.
The tyre issue is another big thing financially, as I use a back tyre on the 6 at around 3000-3500km's, so I would think a 10 would eat it even quicker.
The other thing is $$$$ buying it & the insurance, I feel if you can't afford insurance, YOU can't afford the bike. I have 2 mates with CBR1000's that don't insure them because it so $$$$, yet they admit they don't have $20k lying around to replace them if needed.

I've tested an 04 10r "CRIM", 05 6r & 05 z750.
The 10r was the most comfortable "Five four, 56kg wivawoodee" absolutely insane on the throttle but more compliant over the bumpies.
The 05 6r was great finish for a kwaka, seemed to be more demanding in how you ride it, very knife edgie to get the best from it i reckon. Plenty of mumbo once you send the needle around a whack.
05 z750 more fun than "Whacking a Wiggle with a wombat" nice useable power, incerdibly forgiving turns on a dime. perfect town bike. Tart it up n give the sportier bikes some stick i reckon.
None of them as a good as a 9r though as a complete package.

Nova, from memory, you have a few go-fast-bits on your bike that i would love if you are upgrading.....
could you set them aside if you are trading it in? i can't remember all the goodies you had, but mine has just about zilch, so anything would be nice.......
