Carbon fibre GB. CASHOLA TIME! CHECK PM & THREAD
Carbon fibre GB. CASHOLA TIME! CHECK PM & THREAD
For all those unlucky enough to not have one of these on their bike......I put up with it on the ZX9, but now the ZX12 is all painted prettily in black and it's starting to get filthy.
I've found a manufacturer of carbon fibre ones, Geelong Carbon Craft, (http://www.geelongcarboncraft.com.au) who are keen to bust a deal.
Being carbon fibre, they aren't the world's cheapest items. Phil is willing to sell 1 for $280 (+ freight) or if we can pool and buy more, who knows.......
They do make some other stuff that could be included in this effort, but to save a few bucks I don't want any aggro. If anyone thinks these are wanky parts, or I'm a dickhead, tell your mum. I don't wanna hear it.
This is merely an effort to try and help everyone here out. I can buy one of these for about $295 without doing any of this, the most I'll save is $10-$20 anyway, so I'm not doing it for the cash!
The deal is:
Initially an expression of interest to finalise pricing is required to 'bust a deal'.
Obviously you will make it relevant to the item you want.
On Monday August 8 I will sort out the final prices.
Then you will have the bite put on you to come up with the dough by 31 August.
There will be one delivery to each state to cut down on freight. The payment method is yet to be sorted. I have a strange feeling they will require receipt of funds before they ship out.
The person to whom they are delivered in that state will then distribute. I will do Sydney/NSW. Freight for those not in (or able to get to) Sydney (or the main delivery person in that state) will be at their cost.
After reading how a few of these get ugly, I reckon if all the above is outlined clearly there shouldn't be any bloodshed.
Now for the $64,000 question, is anyone interested in doing this?

Re: Carbon fibre rear huggers. Group buy............Maybe.
That's a good deal, I got mine from Pyramid Plastics through Demon Tweaks (UK) and it cost me more like $600up2nogood wrote:For all those unlucky enough to not have one of these on their bike......I put up with it on the ZX9, but now the ZX12 is all painted prettily in black and it's starting to get filthy.

Yeh, I had some dealings with them a while back and they helped me out with a set of carbon fibre ram air ducts for my zx7r..
I think they do pretty good quality stuff..
Up2nogood, Theres no need to get defensive, generally, we are a good bunch of ppl you know.
The paranoia sets in later when ppl don't come good...
Try sorting out 150 odd t-shirts every year or so.... It eventually gets done..

Well considering you can order them from the GCC web site, i think the dealers would have a good idea that you can get them direct .......neka79 wrote:

If they can do a carbon hugger for a 98 model ZX9R for $295 then Im definitely in. I will also be the main contact for WA who they can ship to if needed. Any chance you can find out for me how much they can do the bellypan and the front guard for also? (listed on their site as $395, and $440). If they can do those parts for ~$300 each also then I will take all three
Will have the cash within a fortnight.
I was trying to organise something similar for a bunch of perth riders but there was no interest unfortunately so it fell through.
thanks heaps for organising this.

Hi Ben, it's a fancy name for a small mudguard that sits just over the top of the rear wheel and stops shit flying off your back tyre onto your mates and their bikes. Handy is you have a sportsbike with no rear fender.ZZR_Bandit wrote:I'm just wonderingwhat are the "Huggers" and what are they used for?.

They also make them out plastic, but the carbon fibre ones look the goods.
Spose the best thing to do is bugger the deposit stage and send me a wish list within your budget.
Don't make me quote a heap of stuff if you can't buy it in a couple of weeks. It'll bug me but also make us look like dills whhen we go to place the real order.
I think they make just about anything that takes your fancy. Do check the website to see what's available.
As for price, so far I have obtained a price for 1x ZX12 carbon fibre rear hugger (covers the back wheel and stops crap spraying up under your wheel arch and onto your shock) for $280 + freight. I guess we can only do better from here. Please bear in mind it's carbon fibre and not ABS plastic. This is GOOOOOD stuff. $280 is pretty freakin' good already.
So, PM me with what you want (if they have it) and I'll finalise the pricing. Will do this next Monday to give everyone time to have a look at the products and also to sort out their finances for the following week. We can delay for a couple of stragglers if they are short for the near term.
Now go have a look!
