Yeah, it took me a few days to get used to not flicking the choke on...kept reaching for the empty space...it does the whole fast idle thing for you, kind of weird but it's worked pretty well so far on these lovely -5 mornings we've been havingscotty37 wrote:There is on the 12R's, just assumed there was one on a 10RMick C wrote:there isn't oneNext to useless anyway.

Dead right, it is a waste of a cable ! Checked closer today, the fast-idle cam barely bumps the throttles off the stop. It should move it heaps more, does bugger-all to increase the idle when cold, as it should (sheesh even my 1980 fuellie has a fast-idle cam that works properly...)scotty37 wrote:There is on the 12R's, just assumed there was one on a 10RMick C wrote:there isn't oneNext to useless anyway.
So Benno , what was the problem ? How many k's have you done ( is it fully run in ??)
cheers

From what I have read it is 6th gear that has a sensor to tell the puter and/or timing plate that in fact it is in 6th and enable the limiter if it has one, sounds like it does.Benno wrote:Yeah, I've done about 3500km's.. so I'm assuming it's run in.
What I found is that it'll hit the 290's in 5th, but starts going backwards in 6th... weird huh
On the 10R's I think the limiter is on the timing advance setup?
On zx12R.org in the ZX10 section they may have something to rectify this.
The 12R's have the 6th gear sensor too but use the speedometer as a guide for the puter limiter.
We can also buy a "yellow box" speedo correction gadget if we mess around with sprokets.
Anyway, I am not totally sure on exactly what happens and how, there are aftermarket electronics to plug in to get around this. Not that I really have much of a need to go over 300.

OK, well 3 1/2 thou should be well run in ...... tell you what mate, I will borrow my mate's 10R tomorrow, its done about 5thou, give it a decent blat out and see what it does
ZX12R Owners - NOTE refer above post re; fast idle cam. I tweaked it a bit last night, and today, it worked correctly - ie idled fast ( 2000rpm) from a cold start. Works just as it should. Just use the small adjuster screw that sits above the standard idle screw, and wind it out ( ie anti-clockwise) about 4 turns. Works a treat !!
cheers
