Oh, nearly forgot.
Can you imagine if they increased the speed limits. Let's say they increased the highway speeds to 150 kays an hour. The problem then is, everyone thinks it's their right to travel at that speed. Have you seen some of the shitboxes on the road? Half of them won't even go that fast, but you can bet your balls some would be trying!! (Ever notice how the biggest shitboxes seem to go flying passed well over the speed limit?)
So, now you have everyone doing 150 kays an hour on the highway. Even those that have trouble staying on the road at the current speed limit. When an accident does happen (and it will), can you imagine the mess? Take the accident yesterday that left two teenagers dead after a head-on. Tragic. The people in the mini-van all went to hospital with minor injuries. Now imagine they'd all been doing 150 km/h instead of 100. Suddenly we jump from a combined impact speed of 200km/h to 300km/h and the people in the mini-van are probably dead aswell.
Like I said. There's a reason we have these laws, even if they seem ridiculous at times.

Mmmm, true, very true.

It's all gotta be a relative thing I guess.
As all the factors improve (driver skills, vehicles, road condition, blah blah) speed limits will gradually go up to match...

By the time driver skills improve and road conditions are suitable for everyone to handle an extra 10km/h the roads will be so congested you will be lucky to get out of first gear. Or we will all be flying around Geogre Jetson Style.
The Doc says my blood is green. Thankfully, there is nothing he can do to help
