BMW Radio Repairs - Know someone gifted?

Post by gray_rm »

Calling anyone electronic-minded...
The radio/CD in my BWM is on the fritz, and the service people want to charge me $1,700 (plus installation) for a new one
Anyone know anyone who can repair in-car radios etc.? I'd be eternally grateful! :)

Mark - after a certain 2 1/2 yr old stuck 20c coins in the CD slot angel8.gif it just didn't seem to work... the display is either all orange or all black, there's no on/off function, no sound, nyada.

Pull it out of the dash, recover them coins, and see if it works, if not it be buggerd. Good time to buy an aftermarket one if thats an option but 1700 smackeroos to fix it fark  you can buy a good in car dvd and stereo setup for that or get a stacker in the boot so no more deposits can be made by lil' angels. haha VHS recorders were always a good place to hide ya toast in the morning (looks at my oldest son )

They may not be repairable, but you could always put a Blaupunkt one in there, thereby retain some Germanic-ness. What model BM is it?

It is a rebadged Blaupunkt - problem is, it's the whole box&dice - CD, radio etc. that fills the centre console bit. I'd be sending Mark the whole freakin' car :D If only the radio was on wheels.... (thinks....)

Mate of mine used to work for Bosch in the blaupunkt dept and they got Paul Phillips Car Sound to do all their installations . Funny thing was that BM dealers used to have work done there Too ! BM is notorious for ripping people blind with spares etc . Take it to a car audio place and get a price . Be interested to hear their quote .
Ummmm let me see
