Keyless Ignition - ZX7R

Post by HansonRacingCo »

I'm interested in getting rid of the key for my '97 ZX7R track bike. I don't want to forget it or lose it and I really don't see the point in it anymore.

Has anyone done this before and can they provide some instructions?

I realize this is pretty much hotwiring a bike, so if you like you can email me at: blahanson@shaw.ca.

Otherwise, I guess I'm going to get my manual and multimeter out and start fiddling.

TIA

Hey man where are you? I am in Brisbane, and have a ZX7R trackbike too, which is keyless, if you want to check it out that is cool. The ignition is just a toggle swith now, and ya still use the killswitch and starter button on the right switchblock.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I'm afraid, I won't be over anytime soon. Thanks for the offer.

Just cut the wires and join them together in the right way (trail and error), you'll need to join three of them together I think. When you know which wires need to be connected you can just stick a switch in there and you'll be laughing.

I know this a concern, if I had the info I'd be reluctant to share for the very same reason. I have no idea how to prove this, but feel free to look at my gallery here:
http://www.bcsportbikes.com/photopost/s ... 29&cat=500

and my personal website here:

If you do have info and you feel like sharing, you may email this to me at:
blahanson@shaw.ca or bretthan@vpl.ca (work).

Otherwise, I appreciate your concern, and I'll just have fun with my multimeter.

mate you could just be really ruff and turn it to on and brake the key off?

nah just kidding, it really is just a case of cut the wires and re connect them by trial and error.

good luck
