Removing ignition hubs
Removing ignition hubs
i'm parting out a ZX9B and intended selling the key set on its own, but how to get the ignition out of the top triple? is there a special tool needed or am I missing something?

Re: Removing ignition hubs
Given that easy removal of the ignition barrel would lead to easy bypassing the key (> theft) they AFAIK bikes use the same shear bolts that cars use and for the same reason:

So the special tool you need is just a drill - but you will also need skill, patience, a generous dose of cunning and sympathetic ear for your cussing - it's not fun.

I took one off my ZX10. I think I used a drill and an easy out was the go but yes patience, cunning and self control to stop you from breaking random shit when you start doing your nut is the go.,
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

Thanks blokes that's good advice and comforting to know I'm not alone in the urge to destroy random stuff when I start doing my nut...self control is not easy!
