Forgive me please........

Post by Glen »

oh yes I've been unfaithful..........with a Yama.........................................oh I dare not say it.

Picked up the new toy on Saturday and as typical it rained most of the weekend when I could've been riding

What an awesome little beasty though. Feels like a big dirt bike but so much torque it's incredible and the sound of the engine....phwoar.

Have ordered a tail tidy and brake light unit to get rid of the coffee cup holder hanging out the back and some spools for the swingarm. I got the little screen added when I picked it up but next will be a radiator guard (it looks a little fragile and exposed) and then sort out what exhaust to put on it. I'm thinking Arrow at this stage. After I've played a bit I'll see what the go is with suspension. They've cheaped out on the suspenders although they're better than the ZRX's when it was stock (that's not saying much though).

Compared to the ZRX though it's amazing how much tinier everything is.

Here's a couple of shots of the beasty and the Rex with it's new Pony to keep it company.

It's sitting on a Kawasaki mat

and it's a kind of purple colour like the 2000 ZX9's. I could've got Orange but that was just Gay looking.

They are good fun Gleno,
Especially chuckin wheelies and stoppies.

Need rear sets to get my shin away from the clutch of I got one.
For the price of a new dirt squirt, you can't go wrong.

Took the toy for it's first real decent run on Friday and all I can say is Woo friggin' hoo. What an awesome little bike. Goes like stink, the engine is absolutely stunning. The riding position is more dirt bike than road bike but with an 850 triple underneath you that is as light as buggery it all adds up to grin factor one thousand.

The suspension is pretty ordinary and feels hard over small bumps even though you can bottom it without too much drama. In order of money spent...Fender eliminator, pick up knobs, radiator guard (all ordered), Ohlins or equivalent front and back to be organised this week. That's about it, I don't know that I'll worry about exhaust, unless I have $1000 to throw away the stocker sounds pretty good and I don't mind a bit of stealth.

It is a license loser though if you're not careful. It's got so much torque and is so light that just a little punch out of a corner has you in "go straight to jail" territory in no time.

The stock Dunlop D214's seem a pretty decent albeit somewhat soft tyre as well.

It all adds up to a sensational little bike that will keep you smiling for days. Can't wait for the next ride.

Beauty. Drove next to a guy on an MT-09 between lights and it sounded great. He had the scorpion pipe. He said something like it's stainless and no need to repack compared to the akra and ALMOST sounds as good (?). No idea about repacking rubbish but did sound good.
