There's no way I'd ride unlicensed, that's crazy talk!
As for using a car for a year instead... I'd sooner have no license for three months!

Sorry shifty,
i was at work yesterday at around four and all i could think of was getting on the bike for the fourty minute ride home. I can understand your pain and hope there is a way to get through.

re: So you've just lost your license...
If I had the money to race that would be my sanity, but I'm flat out keeping petrol and rego up to the bike, without considering the cost of track days and the rate at which my tyres would disintegrate.
I bought three bike mags tonight to keep me entertained until I get the bike back on the road (this weekend, hopefully) and then I have to pay this fine...

re: So you've just lost your license...
what happen to the bike shifty?
re: So you've just lost your license...
I get this alot from Duane...
"It is vertually impossible not to speed on such a powerfull bike"
How does that work? The bike will only go as fast as you make it right? Then i get from duane "but the bike wasnt made to go 60 so it doesnt really like going 60" - so why buy a bike with so much power if you plan to ride it around surburban streets?
I love my bike and i love riding my bike - its good fun - but as anyone whos riden with me will have noticed i have no interest WHAT SO EVER in going over the speed limit. There is no point in putting yourself or anyone - particularly yourself in danger.
I feel sorry for you though - and you neka because although i have never recieved a speeding fine i know that i would be shattered with that let alone giving up my lisence all together.
Slow down guys - all of you it just isnt worth it

re: So you've just lost your license...
That's the reason I'm annoyed I got booked, and I'm generally very reserved around town because I got sick of being taxed for something we all know is perfectly fine in moderation and short bursts. On this occasion after a few hours on or around the speed limit (I knew it was a public holiday - tax time - so was taking it easy) I unfortunately preempted the already slow car in front frustrating me on the next piece of road where there are no safe places for overtaking - the cops obviously recognised this and figured they could make some money.
Fairly normal story - booking people in a place that is safe to give it a little gas, a wide piece of road with good visibility, pinged from hundreds of metres away... a distance in which I could have stopped four times over!
As for the bike, I have a crack in the exhaust so it sounds like a Harley. Located a replacement from a local wrecker but I can't get it until Saturday... $110 for 16yo muffler, how rude!

re: So you've just lost your license...
Well, i've got 3 weeks left out of 12 months and i can safely say its HELL for anyone that lives bikes. i've spent 11 months thinking about, talking about, playing with and dreaming about bikes. its a cruel punishment for a biker, we actually have a passion. most cagers just use it as transport, its so much more for us. and then you've got the learning curve again
i have been riding a pushy all this time and riding a motorbike is 2nd nature to me, but i can already feel i'm not ready to hit peak hour traffic on a wet day
one thing is for sure, you learn your goddamn lesson, hopefully i wont have to learn mine again anytime soon. next time i feel like hitting 200, i'll goddamn well go to a track....
good luck with it, try and find something else to get you by. pushies are a great way to a) keep you on two wheels b) get you places c) save the cashish and d) shave some of that spare tyre off

re: So you've just lost your license...
My bike wouldn't even do 200km/h.. especially not with me riding it on a public road. That's part of the reason I am loathe to actually get one of the bikes I want in the next year or so... my license will be rather temporary despite my generally sensible outlook.
If I decide on the 'no license' option then a new pushie will definitely be on the cards. Oh, did I mention that my last one got stolen? Fat lot of good the cops were then.. funny that.

As I've said elsewhere, I am sure that traffic patrols have increased lately, probably so they can spend the budget on overtime. The way it works for government, is whatever money they don't spend in a year, they have to give back, then state why they need that money again the next year, when they ran a surplus the year before. So for the next two weeks, curb your enthusiasm people.
Anyhow, if you knew it was a patrolled area, then you are a goose for getting done

Straight up, I've done my ticket four times now.
If you do the crime, you deserve the time.
This "i usually do the right thing all time" thing is crap. I don't know any one who has lost their license who hadn't deserved to loose it already for something they had already gotten away with.
If you wanna ride at all quick on the roade, just cope the arse rheemings when they come. If not, get a little cheap car, put your bikkies into a track bike.
Bloody hell, you can get a bucket like Jason"s or Neka"s for $1500. Or an older 6 or 7 trackie for $3000.
No tickets, no cars, no trees, no night mares.
or am I missing something?

It is far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even if chequered with failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, as they live in grey twilight that knows no victory nor defeat.
re: So you've just lost your license...
I think your right matty
There is no such thing as " they shouldnt have booked me it was safe on that road for me to be speeding " - it is never safe and even if it was safe it is still against the law.
You are still breaking the law - if you putting anyone in danger or not is beside the point.
If you are speeding to get around a truck or another vehicle that is putting you at risk - fair enough. But speeding past someone that is sitting right on the speed limit and you know a good road is coming up that you could have abit of fun on - thats something that if you get caught is punishable.
