One of our ROT Riders is a young woman we call the Smurf and of late she has demonstrated more courage and guts I have see in a fair while. We are all hoping for her and hopefully there will be a bright outcome for her. In the last year she has ridden with us I have never heard her complain once and she face life with a smile on her dial.

As some of you are aware life at times deals up some pretty stuff. Smurf is pretty sick young woman who need our hopes and thoughts for her, Shane and her family. She wrote this on her page and given me permission to let you all know. If you are looking for the meaning of the word courage then you don't have to look far in this case.
Hi everyone!! Now I thought it was time for me to let the cat out of the bag...
Well here goes......
My kidney that mum gave me in 2008 has finally decided to give up after only 6 short years... its been happening for a little while but I have been able to manage without any major hiccups untill now....
2 weeks ago I received a phone call from my doc telling me the kidney had run its course and I was needing to start dialysis so preperations were made to have surgery to implant a tube in my tummy for this. I had this operation on wednesday last week everything went well and was discharged on thursday afternoon. And everything was fine.....or so I thought......
Woke up friday morning in pain and the site where my wound was, was bleeding. I was also light headed and shaking... was taken through in an ambulance and after a few tests the docs realised my kidney had failed to the point where I needed dialysis right there and then..
I was taken up to theatre to have a tube inserted into my jugular to immediatly start hemo dialysis. And have been on dialysis for the past 4 days while in hospital.
The reason I haven't told anyone about this before now is because I have always kept these sort of things to myself but I can keep this all to myself anymore. If anyone has any question/concerns im more than happy to answer them for you. Shane and mum only know a limited amount of whats going on but I know all the details so feel free to ask me.
Attached is a photo on me on dialysis (oh I look happy)
