New Track Project - 2013 Triumph 675R - Updated Pics !!

Post by Maccarocks »

Hi all,

Well it's been a while since my last project, basically because I was concentrating on racing all last year (which does take up a lot of time and money !! ) But I am back in 2014 with a great new project bike I picked up in early December last year. It is a 2013 triumph 675R. I have rebuilt an 08 model of the 675 and I loved it straight away (some of you may remember the blue one I did) but this one is coming together really well. I cant wait to get it to the track..

Only travelled 2000k's. It had a bit of front end damage, mainly 1 x fork leg and the front rim. So I decided to fit a completely fresh front end, both forks (as new just serviced), lower triple, new brakes. It's very straight and is looking awesome. I have already replaced the 'Arrow' muffler, gutted the cat, 'GB Racing' casing protectors, 'Woodcraft' frame sliders, 'Triumph' front axle sliders, 'Triumph' shorty levers, race throttle insert, 'Lightech' rearsets, 'Cox' Radiator protector, full service, new brake fluid, well I have pretty much gone over everything. I will be waiting on the first track test before swapping rear sprockets over as this model has different gearing to the previous one. It sounds awesome and revs so fast, with a new redline of 14,500 RPM  All new engine, Ohlins suspension, slipper clutch, quickshifter.. a full 'supersport' race machine.

Now I am just waiting on a set of OEM decals, and also the race glass to arrive, then will be getting the tank repaired and painted all at the same time with the glass. But apart from that the track mods have all been done. I cant wait to get this bike to the track for it's first run, most probably by February I would guess.. yep I hate waiting, but they say that all good things come to those who wait ;) If you like the look of this one, keep watching as I normally sell them off after a few months... 8) So here are a few pics of the build up to date...

Ha Ha.. yes EDU.. it was just going to be too expensive to replace the Ohlins front end when I already had an almost new whole 675 KYB 2012 front end complete with Nissin calipers and brand new brake pads..., anyway, I had read that the ohlins front end was a bit harsh for this model and neede a few mods to get set up correctly..

I was able to get the KYB's set up last time perfectly... so it's basically a 675R minus the Ohlins forks and brembo's.. but I am still using the Brembo master cylinder ;-) I never had any trouble with the standard 675 brakes, in fact I thought they where perfect... I will see how it goes on the track.. If I can get this bike to mid 40's at P.I. I will be very happy :-) But I am sure it wont be beating my 1.43.1 set on the ZX10..!!

Still a fantastic bike on the way for sure... Just had to stick to the budget...

Nice work Macca.

Looking forward to seeing how it comes up, no doubt it'll be another stunner. Pretty good base for a tracky too I reckon.

Good luck with it mate.

Yes EDU, the Brembo's are long gone.. but seriously the front end feels great..

Worst case scenario I could always fit the front with a 25mm Ohlins cartridge kit if I feel I really need it, but I will test ride it first and go from there...!!!

And Yes Jonny Mac, at PI Monday for a very hot one ;-)

Well the new fairings have finally arrived and the fit was perfect !!

I have been able to get the rest of the track mods completed whilst waiting for them, all electronic updates done, full arrow map downloaded.... Cat removed, exup valve removed, and basically everything done as per my other track-race bikes.. ready for testing Monday / Tuesday at Phillip Island :-)

Standby for a track update and report after this, but here are some pics to date.. not properly finished yet, it will be painted properly after the testing...

Great project, I shared a garage with a guy riding one last trackday who was intending to go BEARS racing, bike looked and sounded great to.

Yes they are definitely a fast bike straight away...

I tested it at Phillip Island and even though the gearing was not set for the island, by the 3rd session and a few tweaks on the suspension (front end mainly being too harsh) I was heading towards the mid 40's already.. excellent bike :-)

Obviously they are in high demand, so this one didn't last very long and has been sold already to a lucky new owner...

Next project already on the way.. stand by for pics..

Macca ;)
