Lofty goals
Quest ....26yo GPZ RX 1000 ......370kph .....naked !!!!!!
The bike ....................... A new creation
Designed by................... Troglodyte inc.
Engineered by................ Rustic Performance
Financed by.................. Nickels & Dimes
Rider ......................... A slow old fart
This is an attempt to set a landspeed record in the 1000cc naked class using an old RX 1000 and a few hand made extras.....if all goes to plan the 2014 DLRA meet at lake Gairdner will be the venue and the race to set the first 200 + mph (324kph) "naked" (no fairings or streamlining)...there are another 6 competitors looking to set this milestone...
stay tuned
cheers

Re: Lofty goals
sounds awesome !!
Has this beast got a hair dryer (turbo) ?
or is it a screamer with high comp/cams to suit ?
PS I Love screamers
I am planning on a screamer one day , high comp big bore / head work/cams with the rest to match..
great to see people with a goal. !

Re: Lofty goals
Interesting ..... found out today the ABC are wanting to do a doco on the first to 200 naked at lake Gairdner in 2014......better pull the finger out and get mine finished ...in the middle of a total rebuild ...there will be 4 kawa's up against an army of busa's.......one turbo 14 one worked over 12 ...one old school gpz 1100 on nitro and my rx turbo

Re: Lofty goals
I wonder how the old RX1000 donk can hold up to a hairdryer - they used to shit the bottom end, standard, Maybe a GPZ900 donk would be a better candidate. Lots of RX1000s running around with 900 donks as a result.

2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R
Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Re: Lofty goals
This was how it first went with the hair dryer back in 2007..held up no problem ...it was running the smaller T0 3/4 hybrid then with no boost control and a 10 lb spring
Yes there were some problems with the crank .... all oiling problems ...there has been a lot of mods and effort placed into getting the engines Achilles heel sorted ...the crank problem was with # 3 rod and big end well sorted now... most oiling problems revolve around loss of oil pressure when held at WOT for 10 k's....on rebuild # 3 now and hopefully all the oiling problems will be a thing of the past
The chart says ZX10 which is the 1988 not later model its really an RX not ZX10 and the speed is for 2nd gear as the dyno max's out at 250Yes there were some problems with the crank .... all oiling problems ...there has been a lot of mods and effort placed into getting the engines Achilles heel sorted ...the crank problem was with # 3 rod and big end well sorted now... most oiling problems revolve around loss of oil pressure when held at WOT for 10 k's....on rebuild # 3 now and hopefully all the oiling problems will be a thing of the past
