z1000 07 model

Post by Lionel »

It feels terrible when cornering at 80km (on a bend), feels unsafe.

I think I,ll get suspension looked at, do others say the same about the handling?

What are your tyres like? Might be the first place to look as I cant imagine the suspension would be too bad

Sag 20 to 30 mm front & rear, but thats not the important part to suspension tuning for the road.

Mate I don't think it's your suspension I have a 2007 Z1000 and have never touched my suspension settings from when i bought it new it runs perfect through the corners. Maybe I've become accustomed to it. Tyres would be the problem I reckon.

Cheers

Reset your front forks & rear shock to factory settings as per owners manual - then adjust to suit.

Is 07 and 08 same spec/model?

A mate just bought an 08 and said the front end get floaty and lacks precise turn-in, regardless of on or off power.

The other, most basic thing to check is tyre pressure. That along with the state of the tyres as Glen pointed out can have a massive impact on the way any bike will handle.

Very true Phil, without doubt the biggest impact on feel is your tyres..
Start with basic tyre pressure change's & see what that does. Then setup after you have that right.
Exactly why I offered to take a look at Lionel's bike. Suspension tuning over the internet never works.. ;)

Did I tell everyone, my mechanic adjusted sag, said front forks were far to hard and the tyres had 40.
Felt like a different bike when I rode off.

Cheers everyone.

In what way were the forks hard, Im guessing way to much rebound?
The fork springs are a little soft IMO :)
