What a bugger RG
The only good thing is that it is someone you know so they can help fix it and you can give them a hard time for years about it

Bugger RG
Why didn`t you get him to run over it completely - then his insurance could have got you a new one
Snapper, just make sure that you got it ready for next weekend's rides

re: ZZR250 got knocked over...
I was in the house when it got knocked over, and was told about it after they lifted the bike up standing again.
When told about it(before I see it), I was thinking 'woohoo! a new bike! a new bike!', but when I see it standing there in one piece it was like 'D'oh! No more new bike'
mickeyd_zx6r, I'll be having exams for the next 3 weeks, no rides for me.
red_dave, since u dun have a bike, do u wanna buy the ZZR-250 for 5 grand? so that I can afford a 600. hehehe

Oops!
Got 2 rough quotes from 2 different bike shops.
It'll cost at least $2500 to fix up the damages.

Make a deal with your mate - $1500 cash, fix the oil window yourself and sell it off for $2½k for a learner to ride... they'll just crash it anyway so the scratches shouldn't bother them.
That'll give you most of the money you need for a 600...

I don't think he will give me $1500, becoz his excess is $600, and there are damages to his car as well.Shifty wrote:Make a deal with your mate - $1500 cash, fix the oil window yourself and sell it off for $2½k for a learner to ride... they'll just crash it anyway so the scratches shouldn't bother them.

He might as well pay the $600 and get both the bike and car repaired. Although his premium will skyrocket next year, but it's still worth it.

re: ZZR250 got knocked over...
I've just been told that if I claim too much, they may write off my bike!
I've checked the redbook, it says
1994 KAWASAKI ZZ-R250 (EX250) H5 2x30mm Keihin carb.
Trade in price guide* $1,900 - $2,200
National average price - private sale* $2,900 - $3,400
Price when new (RRP) $7,499
So what is my limit of claim to prevent them from writing off my bike?
How does it work?
His insurance company is RACQ.

RG i would recon that you could put in a quote of 1500 to 2000 grand and they would pay it, and you might as well do it on the mates insurance if he is willing because it wasnt your fault and thats why people have insurance.
That price might be a bit excessive though like around the 2000 mark but if you want your bike back looking right it might cost that much anyway.
as a rough idea bikes like yours with minimal damage go for around 1300 to 2000 at auction no one is really interested in the 250s unless thats what there there for they mostly bid silly on realy broken gixers for track bikes.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

re: ZZR250 got knocked over...
This is always about his insurance, not mine. There's no way I'm gonna get my insurance involve in this.
At this point, I'm confused...
I'm also thinking of making use of this opportunity to let them write it off and give me cash so I can a 600cc.
The question is how much will they give me? Anyone knows how the system work?
What is the market price for a 1994/5 ZZR600 or a ZX-6R ?
I'm confused
, wat should I do ? ? ? ?

Is that all brand new genuine parts or something?
How bad is the fairing? my exhaust is worse than yours, I'm guessing the fairings are too cos my bike slid down the road ... haven't gotten any quotes yet, I'm scared now
I'm taking it in to a place nearby tomorrow to get the fairing cracks welded, I'll get a quote for the cosmetic stuff and see what they say.

re: ZZR250 got knocked over...
It doesn't take much to get cost of repairs up there for a bike. There are so many exposed bits and peices and it all adds up.
My 2 cents worth:
Your mate shouldn't hesitate in getting it fixed back to the way it was. If it can be done without insurance, all the better. But it sounds to me that, it's probably better to go the insurance route. Get it quoted properely and if they write it off, so be it.
You can always see what they will let you buy it back for, as it will be a lot less than what they give you, with the repairs added in. You can always get it fixed cheaper
