gpz 900r shock
gpz 900r shock
The boy racer has got a gpz900 to ride at broadford next year. However the rear shock needs replacing. Is there another shock that will fit at a budget price. cheers farmer.
Re: gpz 900r shock
hi, that is one of the questions I needed to ask, thanx. I had read on a site somewhere, that these can be re-built. dunno, sure some-one would know. I got a shock for a gpz1100 from a wrecker, think south west something in n.s.w. they are in m/c trader etc. paid $120. was fine.
that's the next question, is their another model, mbe later- or even another make, that is interchangeable ? cheers

Rad shockies in Brisbane can rebuild it. Bizarrely Ohlins still make a shock for it but NOT ZX9r....

2 X ZRX1200R 4 X ER6N, GT550, 1988 ZX-10, 4 X GPZ250R, 4 X GPZ900R and GPZ750R
Yeah I like Kawasakis.

Probably Express Motorcycles. He deals in older bikes. Got a RG500 at the mo, which is my dream bike. $18500. I could trade BOTH my ZRXs and still owe him close to $10k. Nah.

Re: gpz 900r shock
Yes I know that I could have it rebuilt, but it is still a 30 year old shock. And I was just hoping to get a newer one that would just fit. cheers.

Re: gpz 900r shock
newer ones are really unlikely to just fit - I had a shock modded to suit the 1984 GPz1100, it was a BMW S1000RR shock - basically perfect length, but its always things like the size of the bolt holes or the width of the end fittings that are different. The mods were simply to have some bushes made up for the lower fitting - really easy - and the top fitting just needed to be machined a little bit so it would fit the frame mount on the 1100 properly. That was it.farmer wrote:....Yes I know that I could have it rebuilt, but it is still a 30 year old shock. And I was just hoping to get a newer one that would just fit. cheers......
There could well be a rear shock that will just bolt into a GPZ900R swingarm/frame - not sure what it would come from though, most of the aftermarket shock makers, just change the top/bottom mounts as required to suit a variety of models.

I believe the Kawasaki ZR7s rear shock is a close replacement.
A popular choice amongst the 750turbo fraternity.
But...as mentioned by Gos....
