SBK ZX10R triple?
Have been re-watching a few syke's & Melandri previous races and I noticed that the bike sounds different in the bends like its dropped a cylinder.
Looking into it I've come across that both SBK BMW & ZX10R have adopted dropping a cylinder in the bends.
So if this true, why drop a cylinder for bends?
Possibles
Curtail power?
Triple configuration like torque to power out?

Re: SBK ZX10R triple?
The computer is reading how much available traction there is a couple of hundred times a second or thereabouts. When it detects slip (ie when the bike is leaned theres less tyre contact) it can retard the power by effectively shutting down a cylinder. Im not sure if it can do 2 cylinders?
Watch their hands, its off brakes and then throttle pretty much nailed full on. As the bike picks up it sounds awesome as it picks up the cylinder. How many highsides you see on these? The downside I guess is watching and listening to others using it as Im punting the 6 trying to get past

Re: SBK ZX10R triple?
Its for traction control , that's why they sound like there running on 2/3 cylinders under full throttle into curton situations . Kawa works on missing individual cylinders and bm's work on the total cut out mode(meaning it cuts all cylinders) for traction or anti wheelstand mode.

Stand on the side of the track when a zx10r is trying to wheelie over the hill at EC. It makes a noise like its dropping a cylinder.
It's the easiest way to let traction control kick in without electronic throttle boddies and stuff.

What does your zx6 do when TC kicks in? Should sound the same in theory.

Re: SBK ZX10R triple?
Went out to the last ASB series at EC and was standing at the crest of the hill , herd all the 10's doing it(others with a different sound) but never heard one 600 do it ? maybe it does not need it under the same situation as the 10's with pro riders using there bike to there full extreme ? Saying that the 10 has around 30% increase (if not more)in power with a very similar ratio in geometry .

The 600's racing don't have it.
Only the 636 which can't be raced in the 600 class

+1 setup for the average guy (meaning all the normal people with a bit of weight)out to have a bit of fun ..Wattie wrote:Yeah a bit if mid range.MAXUMIS wrote:Thanks for the inputWattie wrote:The 600's racing don't have it.

Re: SBK ZX10R triple?
TC 2 or lower with full power in the dry I find its too intrusive in the mid range, when TC kicks in; the bike looses power like timing has been retarded.

Re: SBK ZX10R triple?
I think they have a timing system on them , meaning its capable of controlling the bike under/needed timing retart (the same situations)as needed . I am not saying anything about them But they do have a retart system far from kawa's system ..Wattie wrote:Suzuki don't have TC but?
